GIRLS BASKETBALL BRIEFS: Skyline, Milan drop regular season finales

Tecumseh tops Skyline in SEC crossover

The Skyline girls lost their regular season finale Friday, falling 59-46 to Tecumseh in an SEC crossover game.

Though the Eagles were able to keep the pace in the first and fourth quarters— outscoring the Indians 26-24 in the bookend quarters— Tecumseh outscored Skyline by a combine score of 35-20 in the second and third quarters.

Tecumseh's Hannah Galloway led the Indians with a game-high 16 points. Kayla Kormos added 15 in the victory.

Janae Sims and Anita Vandermeulen each had 12 points for Skyline in the loss.

Skyline ends the regular season with a 7-13 record and will face Dexter Monday night in the district quarterfinal.

Onsted knocks off Milan

The Milan girls' scoring woes continued Thursday night, as the Big Reds fell to Onsted 73-20.

It marked the 11th straight loss for the Big Reds, who haven't scored more than 30 points in a single game since their season-opening 40-33 win over Whitmore Lake.

Onsted scored 30 points in the second quarter alone Thursday night.

The Wildcats led 16-6 after the first eight minutes and took a 46-13 lead into the locker room.

Milan mustered just seven second-half points as the game slipped further and further away.

Onsted's Lexi Johnson poured in a game-high 30 points to pace the Wildcats. Brittany Powell added 16 in the victory.

Milan's Kara Smiatowicz went for six points in the loss, while Maddy Splitt chipped in five.

The Big Reds (2-18, 0-14 Huron League) will take on Bedford Monday in the District 13 quarterfinal at Monroe.
