HOCKEY BRIEFS: Huron tops Dexter, Chelsea blanks Skyline

Huron rallies past Dexter

The Huron hockey team erased a two-goal deficit in the third period against Dexter Saturday—

before Ross Evoy finished the job for the River Rats just 94 seconds into overtime.

Evoy enjoyed a four-point night to help pace Huron, but had none bigger than his game-winning goal 1:34 into overtime.

Evoy scored Huron's first goal with just over a minute remaining in the first period and added an assist in both the second and third periods.

Chad Aaronson, Michael Ficaro and Ryan Silvester also scored for Huron.

Still, Dexter had 4-2 lead entering the final period of play.

Joey Bartlett opened the scoring midway through the first period, Tristan Rojeck knotted the game at 2-all with 2:17 remaining in the second.

The Dreads struck two more times in the period, on goals from Pat Gronvall and another from Rojeck to set up Huron's come-from-behind victory.

Ficaro's goal got Huron within one with just under two minutes to play, while Silvester's tying goal came 29 seconds later.

Robert Coulter earned the win in net for Huron, stopping 25 of 29 shots, while Zach Richards absorbed the loss. Richards made 34 saves on 39 shots.

Huron improves to 8-16-1, while Dexter falls to 12-12-1.

Chelsea shuts out Skyline

Jacob Dobberstein had two goals and an assist as Chelsea blanked Skyline in an SEC crossover game Saturday.

While it was Brody Layher's first-period goal that proved to be the game-winner, Dobberstein followed it with a goal 28 seconds into the second period and an assist on Connor Carry's goal later in the period.

Dobberstein capped the scoring with 12:14 remaining in the third.

Alec Daman added a power play goal for the Bulldogs. Taylor Atchley had two assists in the victory.

Charlie Miller stopped all 10 shots he faced, while Skyline's Ethan Hiltner made 52 saves on 57 shots.

Chelsea improves to 15-5-2; Skyline falls to 11-14.

Pioneer powers past Milford

Louis Marr and Anthony Moran each tallied a goal and an assist as Pioneer toppled Milford 4-1 Saturday at the Ice Cube.

The Pioneers built a 2-0 lead on the strength of a CJ Bradburn goal, 1:10 into the first period and Niko Michos power play goal 5:24 into the second.

That'd be all the cushion Pioneer would need.

After Milford scored midway through the second period to cut the Pioneer lead to 2-1, Marr and Cal Stripling assisted on Moran's goal before Marr's third-period goal put an end to the scoring.

Will Rudberg, Austin Caryl and Brice Brown also added assists for Pioneer in the victory.

Karl Gage stopped 13 of 14 shots in two-plus periods of work. Thomas Hadlock made five saves in his eight minutes in net.

Pioneer improves to 17-7-1.

Saline drops regular season finale to Divine Child

Saline's regular season came to an end Saturday with a 4-1 loss to Dearborn Divine Child.

A three-goal deficit proved too great to overcome, as a Grant Ellis third-period goal proved to be the Hornets' only offense. Zach Mitchell and Mike Savage picked up the assists on the goal.

Saline goaltender Chris Kreuger made 28 saves on 32 shots.

The Hornets finish the regular season 8-14-2.
