Trenton routs Summit in district semis PHOTO GALLERY

Host Trenton needed less than 55 minutes to finish off Summit on Thursday night and advanced to the championship game in Division 2, District 22 action.

The Trojans knocked off the Dragons 8-0, with the mercy being clinched on a goal by Tia Moody about 14 minutes into the second half.

With the victory, Trenton moved on to play Saturday at 10 a.m. against Carlson for the district championship. The winner of that contest will be awarded the district trophy after and will play Tuesday at Chelsea in the first round of regionals.

For the Trojans on Thursday night, Marla Cobetto had a hat trick against Summit, as she scored the game’s second, fourth and sixth goals, while Nadia Kurtzhals scored twice, netting the fifth and seventh goals of the evening.

Other Trenton goals belonged to Megan Mahoney and Brooke Teska, as Mahoney opened the scoring just 91 seconds into the game and Teska scored the Trojans’ third goal of the contest.
