The Lincoln Park Railsplitters beat the Melvindale Cardinals Thursday 9-6 as the two teams along with the Carlson Marauders participated in a tri game.

Lincoln Park was the home team at Carlson’s field in a continuation of last Monday’s game that was a rain out.

The game started in the second inning, with both teams having two runs on the board from last week.

The Rails were consistent through the entire game, scoring at least one run per inning after the first.

Their hitting took off in the fifth inning when the designated hitter Dakota Locklear had a line drive to right center with bases loaded, scoring two.

The Railsplitters strung a few more hits together in the sixth inning to increase their lead by another three runs making the score 9-4.

However the Cardinals were not finished yet and threatened to take the lead with two runs scored in the top of the seventh until Aaron Betancourt finished the game with a strike out.

The Rails went on to play the Marauders and won 3-2 with a walk off to center hit by Betancourt, which scored third baseman Steven Glenn.
