Roosevelt boys, Woodhaven girls win Downriver League Meet PHOTO GALLERY

After winning the News-Herald tournament, the Roosevelt varsity boys’ track team won its third con-secutive Downriver League Meet last Tuesday.

On the girls’ side, Woodhaven fol-lowed up its News-Herald title this year with a win at the league meet, as well. Roosevelt's boys finished with a score of 158.5, more than double of second-place Woodhaven (76.5). The Warriors barely topped Lincoln Park's score of 76.

The Woodhaven girl's team edged Roosevelt 146.25 to 121.5 for first place. Anderson totaled 106 points.

Host Trenton finished fourth and fifth in boys and girls, respectively. Both Carlson and Melvindale's teams finished sixth and seventh, respectively.

Allen Park, Kennedy, and Truman rounded out the boy's teams. Tru-man, Kennedy, and Lincoln Park girl's teams placed eighth, ninth, and tenth, respectively.

Roosevelt swept all four relays and Damon Singleton, Darryl Couch, Danny May, Dominic Davis, D’Aries Davis, and Matthew Dube led the way for the Roosevelt boys, all placing first in their respective events.

Singleton edged Melvindale's Klesean Clark by two seconds in the 100 meters with a time of 11.29.

Couch won the 200 meters at 22.52. May finished with a time of 2:00.07 to win the 800 meters. Davis won the 1600 meters at 4:31.32, but was edged by Woodhaven's Logan Kleam in the 3200 meters. Kleam won with a time of 10:02.32.

Davis would strike back, placing first in the 300mm hurdles (36") at 41.25. Dube won the pole vault with a jump of 12-00.00.

Roosevelt's boys swept the relays, topping Anderson each time.

Trenton's Isabel Olds placed first in the 100 meters.

Anderson's Breanna Luba won the 200 meters, 300m hurdles (30") and (33"). Woodhaven's Adaysha Parker won the 400 meters.

Sabrina Williams (Allen Park) placed first in both the 800 meters and 1600 meters. Roosevelt's Mag-gie Pawelcyzk won the 3200 meters. The Woodhaven girls won the 4x400 and 4x800 relays. Roosevelt and Anderson split the 4x100 and 4x200 relays, respectively.

Carlson's Marvin Franklin and Nate Holmgren finished first and second, respectively, in the 400 meters. Melvindale's Terrance London

won the 110m hurdles (39") with a time of 15.07.

Zachary Moore (Carlson) threw 44-10.50 to place first in shot put. Lincoln Park's Byron Evans tossed 135-04 top the discus field.

Lincoln Park's Robert Atwater won both the long jump and high jump with jumps of 21-08.50 and 7-00.00, respectively.

April Micheaux (Truman) won the girl's shot put with a throw of 37-09.00. Carlson's Jezri Rinehart tossed 119-09 to place first in dis-cuss.

Tea Greca of Woodhaven won the high jump, while Truman's April Micheaux won the long jump. Melvindale's Marissa Wolnowski placed first in pole vault.
