It was the only game during the five-day week for both Woodhaven and Anderson, and both came out to play. Woodhaven had a few more timely hits and played a bit better defensively to defeat Anderson 7-4 on Friday evening in Southgate.

“The last time we played them, they beat us, they flat out beat us,” said Woodhaven Coach Rick Weise. “We were facing a tough pitcher just had to get the bat on the ball which we did today. Put some pressure on their defense and we worked hard on our defense in practice and make sure we could make the little plays that we did today.”

Anderson struck first with two runs in the second inning, but Woodhaven started their comeback in the fourth inning. The Warriors scored a run in the fourth, followed by three more in the fifth inning, and three more in the seventh.

The Titans made a small comeback by scoring one run in the sixth and another in the seventh, but it wasn’t enough.

“We go from playing 11 game in six days, to not getting a game in at all this week,” said Anderson Coach Eric Druchniak. “But they were in the same boat too, and they still had to come out and play and they did and we didn’t. Hats off to them, they were the better team today.”

Anderson’s Brianna Beleski scored two of their four runs while pinch running for Julia Pagac who singled and walked to reach base two of her four times up to the plate. Marisa Laginess was the only other Titan to have at least two hits in the game.

For the Warriors, Emma Sikina, Alica Craig, and Kacey Cassette scored two runs each, and Hannah Fisher scored the other run. Sikina was 3-for-4 as well with three singles and a stolen base. Craig also had a triple and two stolen bases.

Both teams are winding down their seasons but don’t intend to slow down anytime soon. There are still plenty of games coming up for both squads in the next week.
