A strong second and third inning for the Allen Park Jaguars was just enough to push them past the Truman Cougars, 5-2.

Ryan Oakley went 4-for-4 leading off for the Jags, while freshman Lorenz Frasier went 3-for-4, hitting in the eventual game-winning run.

“(He) got a big hit to make it 3-0, he’s batting ninth, he’s a ninth-grader, trying to get going, he had a good day,” said Allen Park Coach Glen Gulliver.

“We’re just starting to get outside. (Our) pitchers, nobody’s going more than two or three innings. We swung the bats better.”

Truman was led by Terrance Mclain, who went 2-for-3 with a double and a run, and Colin Sweet, who was 2-for-3.

“It’s still early, we had guys on base, couldn’t quite get them over, couldn’t get the timely hit when we wanted it, when we needed it,” said Truman Coach Brad Schwartz.

“We got some positives that we liked. We’ve got a lot of senior kids, but not much varsity experience. We’re disappointed in the loss, but we saw some positives.”
