It took almost 39 minutes for the Carlson girls’ soccer team to find its offensive rhythm, but once it did the squad had no problem keeping it, as five second-half goals lead to an easy 6-0 victory over visiting Lincoln Park Wednesday night.

The Marauders (2-1, 1-0) were dominate in the game out shooting Lincoln Park 33-0, but didn’t find the back of the net until Kristina Torres scored with less than two minutes remaining in the first half.

“The first half they weren’t playing together,” said Carlson Coach Steve Briggs. “They were passing the ball wherever and it was just randomness. I told them at half time that we’ve got three games that are going to be tough for us so no matter who we play we have to get better. We started to get better in the second 40 minutes.”

The second half featured a much more focused and sharp Marauders offensive.

Sophomore Jordyn Francis scored two minutes into the second half to get the scoring to open the flood gates.

Torres scored her second of the night with 22:44 left. Jenni Simmons and Brittany Wenzel followed suit shortly thereafter to put Carlson up 5-0 and the game really out of reach for Lincoln Park.

Chelsea Stefanic scored the sixth goal and added two assists on the night for Carlson who will face Woodhaven on Friday before playing Melvindale Monday in two Downriver League battles.
