Despite a strong finish to the regular season, the 2013-14 campaign came to end Tuesday night for Flat Rock-Airport.

The Jets (5-21) were knocked off 9-1 by Monroe SMCC in the first round of Division 3, Region 24 action in Chelsea.

Ryan Eyler picked up the lone goal for the locals, which was his 32nd of the year. Eyler was one of 10 seniors who skated for the Jets this winter.

After a tough start to the season, the Jets played well in February, including a 7-0 win against Bedford and an 8-3 victory over Crestwood, a night in which Eyler netted seven goals.

“I’m so proud of my team for the way they fought when things didn’t go their way all season,” said Coach Jeff Taylor. “It speaks volumes to the type of character my team has.”

Thursday’s semifinal in Chelsea will also feature a local team, as SMCC advanced to face Huron. The winner of that contest will play either Chelsea or Jackson Lumen Christi Saturday for the regional championship.
