After watching Flat Rock knock off host Airport Monday in the first game of district playoffs, Huron went out and took care of business, as well.

The Chiefs (11-8, 8-6 Huron League) crushed Summit 54-33 and advanced to play Cabrini Wednesday in the Class B, District 39 playoffs.

Huron was led by team captain Hailey Richardson’s 17 points and seven rebounds, as well as Savannah Floyd’s 15 points and four boards.

Nearly all of the Dragons’ points came from Sahdia Washington, who finished the night with 23.

In the first quarter, the Chiefs grabbed a 15-7 lead, led by six points from Elizabeth Stockert, who had eight for the game.

With the help of eight second-quarter points by Richardson, Huron was up 26-14 at the half and after the break Floyd dominated the third quarter with 11 points.

To close out the night, the Chiefs’ Carley Ames and Olivia Wilson both contributed two fourth-quarter points in what was ultimately a 21-point victory for their team.

“Getting that win, I feel like’s it’s going to boost our energy going into the next game and hopefully we’ll play like we did tonight,” Richardson said.

Huron will face Cabrini at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, back at Airport, in the district semifinal. The winner of that contest will move on to play either Flat Rock or Grosse Ile on Friday for the district championship.
