After knocking off Truman last Monday, and tying the Cougars for first place, the Kennedy squad just kept plowing its way through the Downriver League.

An impressive win streak stretched to seven games, and nine out of the last 10, as the Eagles (12-3, 11-2 DRL) beat Trenton 67-47 on Tuesday and handed Allen Park a 70-39 defeat on Friday. The squad’s only loss in the last 10 contests was a 49-48 decision against Allen Park last month.

On Tuesday, the host Trojans (4-13, 2-12 DRL) trailed only 26-24 at the half, but Kennedy exploded in the final 16 minutes and scored 41 points while holding Trenton to just 23.

Andia Marsh paced the Eagles with 19 points, while Verteaz Tillman had 17 and Anton Hogan netted 13.

Christian Mercure led the Trojans with 18 points and Jaylin Jordan finished with nine.

Kennedy’s trip to Allen Park (9-7, 7-6 DRL) Friday kicked off with just a 12-10 lead after the first quarter, but in the second the Eagles outscored the Jaguars 20-9 and took a 31-19 lead into the half.

Out of the intermission, Kennedy picked up right where it left off and grabbed a 51-31 after three quarters and in the final eight minutes continued to dominate en route to the 70-39 win.

Marsh guided the way again and finished with 18 points, while Brenden Williams came away with 12 and Hogan netted 10.

For the Jaguars, Jarett Shinault had nine points and teammates Jake Barann and Jared Donigan both scored six.

Kennedy was scheduled for a trip to Lincoln Park last night and on Friday is set to welcome in Truman for what could decide the league title.
