SWIMMING: Locals shine at MISCA meet



As the 2013-2014 swim season draws to a close, the locals took to the waters at the annual MISCA meet and left with very positive results with the state meet on the horizon.

At the state meet in a few weeks, the Cabrini Monarchs will be represented by a swimmer for the first time in school history.

Ford Pariseau broke the 100 breaststroke school record and qualified for the state meet along with a swim of 1:05.77.

Locals were very well represented in the 200 medley relay.

Riverview (Alex Guthrie, Dakota Roehler, Nicolas Guthrie, Morgen Gardocki) led the way with a 19th place finish in 1:43.33.

Roosevelt (Evan Perovich, Danny May, Collin Olson, Easton Tabin; 1:46.2) was 31st, Cabrini (Kirk Nicola, Pariseau, Jonah Globke, Robert Day; 1:49.99) was 51st, Allen Park (Michael Harris, Tommy Lareau, Cody Gledhill, Daniel Cayo; 1:50.03) was 52nd, Carlson (Thomas Jozwiak, Alex Penland, Ryan Owen, Matt Anderson; 1:50.28) was 55th and Woodhaven (Damien Straub, Phil Consiglio, Wesley Moilanen, Zachary

Rodriguez; 1:51.11) was 61st.

Riverview continued with its strong relay swims in the 200 free relay (Gardocki, Roehler, A. Guthrie, N. Guthrie) with a 21st place finish in 1:32.70.

Woodhaven (Miolanen, Dylan Nycz, Rodriguez, Straub; 1:36.35) was 51st, Cabrini (Globke, Pariseau, Joe Trohimczyk, Day; 1:37.19) was 57th and Roosevelt (Bearden, Owen Jablonski, Mike Pugh, Dylan Fore; 1:38.18) was 60th.

Roosevelt led the way in the 400 free relay (Tabin, Fore, May, Olson) with a 25th place finish in 3:27.43.

Riverview (A. Guthrie, Caleb Menna, Gardocki, Roehler; 3:31.83) was 36th, Woodhaven (Straub, Rodriguez, Wiencek, Moilanen; 3:35.53) was 48th and Carlson (Owen, Penland, Jozwiak, Anderson; 3:37.13) was 50th.

The Roosevelt finishes in the 400 free relay and the 200 free relay were career-bests and all three of Riverview’s relays swam under the D3 state cut.

Tabin finished 69th in the 200 free (1:59.64), and Allen Park’s Tommy Lareau was 66th in the 200 IM (2:11.38).

Carlson’s Anderson (23.57) and Riverview’s Nickolas Guthrie (23.64) finished 72nad and 73rd respectively.

Olson was Roosevelt’s top finisher in the 100 fly (54.78) with a 17th place finish and Nicolas Guthrie was 50th in the event (57.58).

In the 100 free, Anderon was 62nd (51.42), Tabin was 68th, (51.64) and Woodhaven’s Moilanen was 75th (52.06).

Olson finished 41st in the 100 back (58.22), Jozwiak was 53rd (59.06) and Straub was 82nd (1:01.20).

In the 100 breast Lareau was 44th (1:05.04), Pariseau was 48th (1:05.77) and Roehler was 59th (1:07.33).

In the diving well, Cabrini’s Erik LaCroix was 27th with a score of 134.85.
