Roosevelt 51, Lincoln Park 0

Roosevelt traveled to Lincoln Park Friday night and crushed the Railsplitters 51-0. The Bears improve to 2-0 for the season and Lincoln Park drops to 0-2 and extends its losing streak to 63 games.

For Roosevelt, quarterbacks Donovan Stewart and Austin Petravicius went a combined 5-for-7 passing and threw three touchdowns. Brandon Sowards caught two of the touchdown throws and Donnie Corley hauled in one.

Rushing touchdowns for the Bears belonged to Kyle Matejko, Jakob Zanski, D’Aries Davis and Trenton Webster. Damon Singleton accounted for two points with a safety on defense and kicker Jacob Simpson was a perfect 7-for-7 with his extra-point attempts.

Up next for Roosevelt is a trip to Carlson next week, while the Rails will head to Melvindale.



Anderson 20, Woodhaven 0

After nearly three scoreless quarters, Anderson came through with three late touchdowns and pulled away with a 20-0 win at Woodhaven. The Titans are now 2-0 this season and the Warriors fall to 0-2.

Brandon Ostrowski crossed the goal line twice for Anderson Friday night, as he scored from a yard out late in the third quarter and then caught a fourth-quarter screen pass from quarterback Tyler Hall and took it 42 yards to pay dirt.

To cap the scoring, Hall ran in a 15-yard quarterback keeper and Hunter Majeske cashed in on the two-point conversion to make it a 20-0 game.

Next week Anderson will welcome Truman and Woodhaven will head to Allen Park.



Gabriel Richard 33, Everest 13

Richard got touchdown from four different players and rolled to its second victory of the 2013 season.

Tyler Blaszczak, who had a huge game in Richard’s opening-night win over Flat Rock, scored two more TDs as did Nathan Mohr. Devin Dickow and Tyler Riney had the other scores for the 2-0 Pioneers.

Richard will go after win No. 3 with their third straight home game Friday against Dearborn Heights Star International Academy.



Melvindale 54, Kennedy 21



The Cardinals extended their season to 2-0 with a 54-21 victory over Kennedy on Friday night.

Quarterback Jason Doyle was 14-for-21 in the air for 206 yards and passed for four touchdowns.

Malik Boynton and Albert Webster each had a pair of receiving touch-downs.

Quincy Gibbs rushed for a pair and Kle’sean Clark ran one in while Boynton added another with a 25-yard interception return.

Boynton was on the receiving end of six throws for 113 yards and Webster had 52 yards in three catches.

On the ground, Gibbs ran 133 yards in 15 attempts and Clark had 31 in eight.

The Eagles’ touchdowns came on one passing and one rushing attempt.

Andia Marsh got the score on the ground and Dion Craig caught one in the end zone for the other score.

Kennedy had 54 yards rushing in 19 tries and was 6-for-16 in the air for 142 yards.

Melvindale will look to extend its season to 3-0 next week when they host Lincoln Park and Kennedy will travel to Trenton the same night.



SMCC 50, Flat Rock 7

The young Flat Rock Rams lost a tough 50-7 contest to SMCC.

The Rams’ score came on a 51-yard pass in the third quarter from Bran-don Kish to Cody Ratcliffe to make it at 44-7 game at the time.

Kish was 12-for-17 for 130 yards and one touchdown.

Radcliffe caught eight passes for 107 yards and Jordan DeLeon rushed for 33 yards on six carries.

Flat Rock will look for its first win of the season next week when they travel to Grosse Ile, now 2-0.
