SOFTBALL: Cabrini wins two league doubleheaders

The weather was in Cabriniís favor last week and the Monarchs were able to get four more games added to their record book.

Cabrini had doubleheaders against Dearborn Divine Child and Macomb Lutheran North and won all four games.

On April 9, the Monarchs defeated Divine Child 3-1 and 13-3 in league games.

Cabrini scored runs in the second, third and sixth innings for their victory in the first game.

Kara Rich went two-for-two at bat and had an RBI while Sydney Lankford went one-for-two with an RBI.

Paige Altherr was on the mound and pitched seven innings with four hits, nine strikeouts, two walks and one unearned run.

In the second game the Monarch offense was hot in their 13-3 victory.

Lily Ranspatch went two-for-three with two RBIs in the winning effort and Rich also went two-for-three with three RBIs.

Lankford went two-for-four and recorded five RBIs, three runs and a homerun.

The Cabrini scores came in the first (one), second (six), fourth (two) and fifth (four) innings.

Altherr was on the mound again with five hits, four strikeouts, four walks and three earned runs.

On Friday, the Monarchs faced Lutheran North, defeating the Mustangs 10-0 and 10-1.

In the first game Cabrini scored runs in the first (three), third (two) and fifth (five) innings for the victory.

Lankford went three-for-four with one RBI, Altherr went three-for-three with two RBIs and Jordyn Fryz went two-for-four with one RBI.

On the mound, Altherr pitched four hits, three strikeouts and three walks.

In the second game, it was much of the same.

Scores came in the first (one), third (three), fourth (three) and seventh (three) innings.

Altherr went two-for-three with an RBI, Ashley Gordan went two-for three with five RBIs and Rich went one-for-two with an RBI.

Kendel Adamus went one-for-one with an RBI.

On the mound, Altherr had four hits, eight strikeouts, two walks and one earned run.

The Monarchs hosted Riverview Gabriel Richard in a double header yesterday and have a double header against Notre Dame Prep at home tomorrow.

On Saturday the team will be at the Beaverton Tournament.
