The Cabrini girls’ tennis team will rely on youth to step up and replace some key losses from last year’s team in the upcoming season.
“(We) lost our top singles and top doubles from last year, but we have a good number of youngsters willing to step into the lineup,” Cabrini Coach JR Muniz said. “Our team is young with only two returning seniors on the squad.”
Monarch returners are led by Anna Randt, Alex Stassen and Maddy Lajiness, who all saw time in last year’s singles lineup.
Sidney St. Germain, Alyssa Alonte, Carolyn Ferraioulo, Lauren Griefenberg, Kate Black, Shelby Watson, Johanna Roa and Greys Marsh all have some varsity experience and the Monarchs will also look for contributions from Amanda Oakley, Morgan Peterson, Callie Watland, Andi Vigneau and Brittany Martin.
“We have a good crop of freshmen that allows us to continue to build our program,” said Muniz, who will be joined once again by longtime assistant Don Pushman. “I am excited for our kids and expect a few of the younger kids will push our experienced players.”
The Monarchs will open the season on the road with a trip to Riverview on April 9.
