BOYS' BASKETBALL: Baptist Park and Inter-City roll in district semifinals

Inter-City Baptist and host Baptist Park will battle in Friday's Class D district final after rolling through semifinal round.

The Wildcats routed Taylor Trillium 72-26 on Wednesday night to secure a spot in the finals.

After taking a 20-14 lead after one quarter, Baptist Park's defense turned this one into a laugher as the Wildcats outscored Trillium 52-12 over the final three quarters.

"They only had six points in the whole second half, so that was impressive," Baptist Park Bill Miller said.

Anthony Kaminski led the way with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Kirk Thomas had 14, Devante Schofield had 10 points and 11 boards and Daniel Eubank also scored 10 for the Wildcats.

Inter-City locked up it's second-straight postseason win of more than 20 points with a 58-35 win over Plymouth Christian.

"It was just a slow game and couldn't get going how we'd like offensively, but we just locked them down on defense," Inter-City Coach Mark Kraatz said. "They had been averaging 60 points. We just prevented them from running their offense and we kept them from getting into anything."

Kraatz noted the stellar defensive performances of Derek Doran and Carson Claypool in the victory.

"Those guys just shut them down," he said.

Nathanael Packwood led the Chargers with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Evan Kraatz had 15 points and 10 assists, Luke Barber scored 11 and Garrett Kraatz added eight points.

Brady Fressel also added solid minutes off the bench for Inter-City.

Inter-City and Baptist Park will play in the district finals at 7 pm on Friday.
