Inter-City Baptist and host Baptist Park faced little resistance in their opening round victories on Monday in the Class D District 101 tournament.
The Chargers traveled to Newport Lutheran South and defeated their host 78-25.
Evan Kraatz helped put the game out of reach in the opening minutes by scoring the first 15 points of the contest.
He finished with 19 points and 12 assists in the victory.
Garrett Kraatz scored 13 and Carson Claypool added 12 in the rout.
“It was nice to get everyone in,” Inter-City Coach Mark Kraatz said. “Everyone played and we had a lot of people score.”
The Chargers will face Plymouth Christian at Baptist Park on Wednesday night.
Baptist Park hosted Lutheran Westland that same night and rolled to a 73-47 victory.
The Wildcats, who led 33-27 at the half, turned in one of their best shooting nights of the season and used a 22-7 third quarter advantage to pull away from the visitors.
“It was probably our best game of the year,” Baptist Park Coach Bill Miller said. “The first half we pretty close, but in the third quarter, it seemed like they were missing and we were hitting.”
The Wildcats were efficient in nearly all facets and shot an impressive 63 percent from the field while committing only seven turnovers.
Anthony Kaminski had a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds and Daniel Eubank matched him offensively with 20 of his own.
Kirk Thomas scored 16 in the win and Devante Schofield added 15 points and nine rebounds.
The Wildcats will play the early game on Wednesday when they take on Taylor Trillium at 6 pm.
