The Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League Prep Hockey Showcase proved to be a bit of the bummer for the Woodhaven hockey team, which lost on Thursday to Birmingham Unified 4-1 and fell on Friday to Midland 6-4.

The Warriors outshot both Showcase foes and generated 40 shots against Midland, but it was not enough

I thought we played well enough offensively, but we just couldn’t keep the puck out of our net.

“We made a couple of glaring errors and both Birmingham and Midland capitalized on them.”

Woodhaven led 1-0 in each game and dominated play for the first 10 minutes of each game, but could not sustain the momentum.

Matt Bederka, Dominic Moore, Alex Robison and Jake Moore scored goals for the Warriors in the loss to Midland. Billy Brock had two assists.

Mike Williams had the only Warriors goal against Birmingham.

Woodhaven will now get back down to the business of trying to win the Michigan Metro Hockey League title.

At 9-1, the Warriors have the best record in the league, but they have three games left to play, including a tough one against Grosse Pointe South.

Tonight the Warriors go to Ann Arbor to play Pioneer, tomorrow they are at Plymouth Salem and Saturday they host Anderson.
