The Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League’s Pres Hockey Showcase returns to Trenton’s Kennedy Recreation Center beginning tomorrow.
This year’s event features six local teams, including MIHL members Trenton and Roosevelt.
Also playing this year will be Woodhaven, Riverview, Grosse Ile and Allen Park.
The games run from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday; 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday; and 8 a.m. until 6:40 p.m. on Saturday.
Trenton will play at 8 p.m. Friday and 4:40 on Saturday; Roosevelt will play at 10:20 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday; Allen Park will play 4 p.m. Thursday and 8:20 a.m. Saturday; Grosse Ile will play at 7:40 p.m. Thursday and 4:20 Saturday; Riverview will play at 7:20 p.m. Thursday and 12:20 Saturday; and Woodhaven will play at 5:40 p.m. Thursday and 6:40 p.m. Friday.
Many of this year’s 43 teams are state-ranked and the field now includes some of the top teams from Indiana, Wisconsin and Ontario.
There is only one Michigan team – Dearborn Divine Child – making its first appearance in the event.
Four teams from outside Michigan have been added: Culver Military Academy (IN), Notre Dame Prep (WI), Upper Canada College (ON) and a second team from Hill Academy (ON).
As usual, in an attempt to minimize parking problems at the small Kennedy parking lot, a free shuttle service will run continuously from the Trenton High School West Road lot and the Trenton High Student parking lot.
Additionally, parking and shuttle service is available at the Martenson Funeral Home Parking Lot and the Trenton Cultural Center Parking Lot.
There will be a $3 charge to park in the Kennedy Recreation Center parking lot. The goal is to get people to utilize the free shuttle service and help alleviate some of the congestion that has occurred in the past in the arena parking lot.
Ticket prices for the Showcase are: Adults - $6.00 per day or $10 for a weekend pass; seniors and students - $4 per day or $6 for a weekend pass.
Active Duty Military Personnel and their families will receive free admission with Uniform or Military ID.
