Inter-City went 2-1 last week with a pair of blowout victories and a competitive loss to one of the state’s best teams.
On Tuesday, the Chargers destroyed Parkway Christian 60-28.
“It was a nice game and everyone got to play,” Inter-City Coach Mark Kraatz said. “We got a lot of contributions from a lot of people.”
Nathanael Packwood led the Chargers with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Evan Kraatz had a career-high 17 assists to go with five points.
Luke Barber scored 13 points, Garrett Kraatz had 11 and Brady Fressell added eight in the win.
On Friday, Inter-City earned another lopsided victory with a 69-36 win over Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest.
Evan Kraatz had 16 points, nine assists and five steals for the Chargers while Barber scored 16, Packwood had 11 points, 10 boards and two blocks, and freshmen Fressell and Garrett Kraatz each scored eight.
On Saturday, Inter-City hosted one of the top teams in the state in third-ranked Detroit Country Day and fell 73-59.
The Chargers trailed 40-32 at the half and cut their deficit to five midway through the third quarter before Country Day started to pull away.
In the fourth, Inter-City cut Country Day’s lead to nine points and had an open look at a three to make it a two-possession game, but the Chargers could not convert and would get no closer.
“Overall, it was a positive showing to the guys that we can compete,” Kraatz said. “Our kids played hard and played tough. We played a good game, there’s no question.”
“It was a good week all the way around.”
Evan Kraatz had 17 points and nine assists to lead the Chargers.
Barber had 16 points and six boards and Carson Claypool added nine points and seven rebounds.
The Chargers spent the majority of the first half without Packwood, who got into foul trouble early on.
Inter-City (10-2, 6-1 MI Independent – Blue) hosted Birmingham Roeper on Tuesday to begin the second half of the league season.
Cabrini splits
The Cabrini Monarchs split a pair of league games last week with a loss to Royal Oak Shrine and a win over Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood.
On Tuesday, the Monarchs fell to Shrine 71-58.
Cabrini was doubled-up in the first quarter, 16-8, and could not cut into the deficit despite being within two points in every other quarter.
Sean David led the Monarchs with 15 points. Andrew Smith had 10 points and four blocks and Scott Smith and Ian Wagner each scored eight.
The Monarchs bounced back on Friday with a 68-64 win over Cranbrook.
Wagner had his best game of the season with 20 points and six assists to pace the Monarchs.
David had 13 points, Andrew Smith scored 10 with 10 rebounds and Scott Smith added eight.
Cabrini (5-6, 2-3 Catholic League) hosted Detroit Cristo Rey on Tuesday and will remain home against Macomb Lutheran North on Friday.
BP wins pair
Baptist Park improved to 6-3 last week with a pair of league wins.
On Tuesday, the Wildcats hosted Newport Lutheran South and defeated the Saints 61-52.
Two days later, Baptist Park traveled to Westland Huron Valley Lutheran and won 67-48.
The Wildcats now sit at 4-2 in Michigan Independent – Red play.
