Downriver teams made a huge showing at Saturday’s 10th annual Wyandotte Competitive Cheerleading Invitational.
Led by Allen Park and Grosse Ile, local squads swept the first three places in Division 2 and the first two spots in division 3 at the 11-team event.
Allen Park was the event’s dominant team, scoring a meet-high 703.94 to win the Division 2 crown.
But the Jags got a push from host Roosevelt, which hung tough throughout the meet and finished with 695.44 points.
Trenton was third in the division (650.34) and Huron was sixth.
Grosse Ile posited the third highest point total of the day with 675.68 and captured the Division 3 crown. Flat Rock was second with 611.54.
It was the second straight week of first-place showings for the Jaguars and Red Devils as each won at the Allen Park Invitational on Jan. 5.
Up next for many teams is the News-Herald Invitational hosted by Grosse Ile.
Allen Park will bypass that event and head instead to the Royal Rumble in Rochester.
