The Carlson competitive cheerleading team went to the tough 21-team Cougar Spirit Invitational at Stoney Creek High School last weekend and blew everyone away, winning the Division 2 title with more points than any team at the competition.
The two-time defending state champs had the highest score of any team in all three rounds and coasted to another first-place trophy with a score of 787.5.
Dearborn Divine Child was second in Division 2 with 773.84 points after suffering an eight-point deduction.
The next closest score to the Marauders came from host Rochester Hills Stoney Creek, which scored 776.8.
Stoney Creek won the Division title in come-from-behind fashion as Anderson held a slight edge after the first and second rounds of competition.
But the Titans came up short in the final round and they were beaten by the Cougars 312.5-304.5 and had to settle for second place with 770.14, fifth highest in the competition.
