Allen Park and host Gabriel Richard met in the consolation game of the News-Herald tournament on Saturday night at Southgate Civic Center, in a penalty-filled outing.

Allen Park continued its strong season with a 5-3 victory over Richard.

The Jaguars led 4-0 before Richard got on board in the third period.

Brendan Kilburg got the scoring started, unassisted 10 minutes into the first period.

Almost a full period later, Steve Newsome netted Allen Park’s second of the night, assisted by Nick Ful-ton.

Aaron Porter added two more before the period ended, giving the Jags a 4-0 lead going into the final period.

He was assisted by Chris Mann, Grant Brandimore and Kilburg.

Nick Metropoulus capped the Jaguar scoring, three minutes into the final period.

He was assisted by Nick Martinez and Travis Pippin.

The Pioneers found the back of the net three times in the third, but the gap was too large and they were unable to make a comeback.

Richard goals came from Devin Dickow, Ben Geierman and Tyler Riney.

Geierman, Dickow, Brendan Damron, John Ames and Nick Brannon had the assists.

The first two periods passed with just four penalties, but the third period saw 19 penalties from the teams combined, including a game misconduct for each team.
