The Trenton hockey team went to the Ice Box a week ago and pounded host Woodhaven 8-2.

Trenton scored several deflection goals in the game and Coach Mike Turner said it was good to see his team getting a few positive bounces.

“We haven’t had anything go our way in the first few games,” he said.

Phil Pugliese got the scoring started with the only goal of the first period, but them the Trojans reeled off five straight in the second period. Andrew Sawyer and Brandon Hoffman each had two of those goals and Brad Teska had the other.

The third period was the most evenly played with each team netting two goals.

Nick Bondy and Hoffman scored for Trenton with Trevor Kowalczyk and Mike Williams answering for Woodhaven.

It turned out to be a five-point night for Pugliese, who had four assists and a three-point night for Bondy.

“We didn’t play well against Trenton, but we did make a bit of a stand and played better in the third period,” said Woodhaven Coach Bryan Sullivan

On Saturday, Woodhaven went to Ann Arbor and beat Saline 4-1.

“We came out and did the job,” said Sullivan. “There were no real highs or lows.

“There was not a lot of emotion, but it was a decent and a good game to come back on after the loss.”

Williams, with a goal and an assist led the Warriors to the win.

Jake Hernandez, Jacob Swindle and Alex Robinson had the other Woodhaven goals.

Woodhaven (4-3) hosts Dearborn tonight and Ann Arbor Huron Saturday.

Trenton (3-3) is at Novi Detroit Catholic Central tonight and hosts Wyandotte Saturday.
