Edsel Ford built some momentum heading into this week’s Western Wayne Athletic Conference league meet with a 68-34 victory over Garden City last Tuesday.

The Thunderbirds celebrated senior night with 11 event wins.

Zach Matthews was a double-winner in the 200 IM and butterfly, Mitchell Hall took first in the 200-free and 100-free, Alex Kirchner won the 500-free and Travis Strojny won diving.

Chris Matthews, Hunter Jackman, Max Rogula and Noah Kubitz won the medley relay for Edsel and Chris Matthews, Zach Matthews, Hall and Kubitz teamed to win the 400 freestyle relay.

The T-birds will now prepare for the WWAC league meet in Belleville this week and Coach Bill Parker sees the host as the team to beat.

“We lost by four earlier this year and we will probably come at them as hard as we can come at them,” Parker said. “Belleville is definitely in the driver’s seat.”

Preliminaries will begin on Wednesday, diving preliminaries will be on Thursday and the finals for swimming and diving will take place on Friday at 6 PM.

Tractors win

Fordson closed out its WWAC Schedule last Tuesday with a 62-32 victory over Crestwood.

The Tractors took first in seven events and turned in multiple 1-2 finishes in the victory.

Hussein Dakroub won the 50-free and the Tractors took first in the medley relay (Ali Elakari, Elreichouni, Zreik, Dakroub) and the 400 freestyle relay (Ali Hammoud, Hamze Elhusseini, Zreik, Yazback).

Both teams will compete in the WWAC meet in Bellville this week.
