Warren Mott’s Captain Brandon Mezuk led the Mott Marauders to a 9-0 victory over the Bishop Foley Unified Warriors.
Mezuk scored the first four goals in the game played Friday night, and then added a fifth goal later in the second period. He also assisted on three of the Marauders other goals.
The Marauder’s Co-Captain Shane Mackin also had a multi-point night, netting two goals, and assisting on four other goals.
It was a frustrating night for the Warriors throughout the game.
The Warriors out-shot the Marauders 19-18, but just could not find the back of the Marauder’s net. Two of the Marauder’s goals were scored while they were short-handed. And one of those goals was scored while the Marauder’s were two men short.
The Marauder’s scored their 8th goal of the game with 2:12 left in the second period. It was scored by Kenny Edwards. At that point, facing a possible ‘mercy’ at the end of the second period, Warrior’s Coach Dave Williamson pulled their goalie in an attempt to score with the extra attacker on the ice. Closing the gap to a seven goal difference in the score would have allowed the game to continue into the third period.
But that was not to be.
The Marauder’s Co-Captain Collin Richtarcik grabbed an empty net goal with 4 seconds left in the second period to extend the Marauder’s lead to 9-0, ending the game after two periods.
