The Bloomfield United Chargers beat division rival Avondale, 3-1, nn a game played on Thursday at The Detroit Skating Club .

The Yellow Jackets scored first at 9:31 of the first period. The goal was scored by Paul Miriani with an assist to Brendan Foley.

The Chargers answered and got on the board on the power play at 11:40 of the first with a goal from Chase Smith. The assists went to Andrew Settecerri and Connor Holman.

The Chargers took the lead early in the second at the 4:47 mark with a goal by Kevin Barnett. Chase Smith and Andrew Settecerri got the assists. The Chargers got an insurance goal at 13:45 of the third period on a goal by Chase Smith, his second of the night. Bryce McClelland picked up the assist.

Head coach Bruce McAlister said after the game “Our win tonight is the result of strong play from both Chase Smith and Kevin Barnett upfront, and Brian Keener and Andrew Settecerri at the points. Avondale tied us late in the game in our last contest … this time we played our game and won” The Chargers had 29 shots and the Yellow Jackets had 17.

The Chargers will face the Troy Colts on Saturday at 8 p.m. at The Detroit Skating Club. The Chargers will celebrate Senior Night in honor of all graduating seniors.
