Forward Ryan Blooms scored three goals and net minder Jeremy Onofrio stopped 33 of 34 shots to lead the Northville Mustangs ice hockey team, snapping the South Lyon Varsity Unified Hockey unbeaten streak at two games with a decisive 4-1 victory played Wednesday evening at the Novi Ice Arena.

South Lyon could not overcome a late penalty with five seconds left in the second period, with Northville seizing the opportunity to build momentum moving into the third period.

The Mustangs scored quickly on the power play for the first goal of the third period, capitalized on a mix up on a line change for their second goal and then forced a turnover in the South Lyon zone for their third goal of the period and final of the game, all goals in the stanza were scored by Bloom.

South Lyon's lone tally opened the scoring in the game early in the second period, as senior defenseman Cam Thomas knocked down a clearing pass at the blue line and fed the puck to junior forward Corey Robertson, Robertson found a wide open senior forward Alex Hudgens whose wrist shot beat Onofrio high to the glove side.

The Unified team from South Lyon had multiple opportunities to advance the scoring but could not turn on the red light.

Northville fired 41 shots on the South Lyon junior goaltender Aaron Callan. Northville’s assist came from Alex Shuart, Joe Chase, Ben Crabil, Danny O’Malley and Alec Melucci, forward Grant Lalonde scored the other goal for the Mustangs.
