Saturday's prep roundup: Country Day rolls over competition in Muskegon Heights Shootout

COUNTRY DAY DOWNS CLEVELAND KING

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS — Senior center Amir Williams scored a game-high 18 points to go along with nine rebounds and six blocks to lead Country Day to a 72-46 trouncing of Cleveland Martin Luther King Saturday night in a boys basketball game played at Muskegon Heights High School. Yellowjackets senior swingman Adam Zavadil chipped in with 12 points and senior point guard Chris Fowler dished out 10 assists. Country Day improves to 6-2 on the year. King (4-3) was paced by Rayshawn Sumlin’s 11 points.

Pontiac 59, Southfield-Lathrup 50 — At Lathrup Village on Friday, Anthony Adams scored a game-high 25 points and six steals and Jamal Barr added 21 points and eight rebounds for Pontiac (4-1, 2-0 OAA Red), which outscored Lathrup in the fourth quarter, 24-10.



Troy Athens 66, Flint Carman-Ainsworth 56 — At Flint on Friday, Jake Duzey continued his impressive play in the post for the Red Hawks, scoring a game-high 21 points, hauling down 16 rebounds and blocking six shots in the Athens win. George Zachery added 13 points and Tyler Channell put in 10 points for the victors.



Girls basketball

Howell 54, Milford 45 — At Auburn Hills, Lindsey Bandyk scored a team-high 14 points to anchor Milford (3-3) in a game played at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Howell’s Emily Lorkowski scored 18 points to lead Howell.



Hockey

Lake Orion 8, Plymouth 5 — At Plymouth, Dan Chappie netted the game-winning score in the third period and Shane Stockwell and Jesse Cameron each put in two goals apiece in sparking the Dragons (7-4-1) to the win. Chappie and Stockwell both contributed two assists and starting goalkeeper Dominic Juncaj turned away 25 Plymouth shots to earn the victory in between the pipes.
