Some division titles have been decided. Some are winding down. But one thing is for sure, baseball teams from all around the county are getting their affairs in order in an attempt to make a strong push toward and into the postseason, which is but a few short weeks away.

Hereís a look at how some of the top teams - and players - in Oakland County are looking as they round third and head towards home, or the state playoffs as itís more commonly referred to.

Top Teams

1) Detroit Country Day (19-6 overall): The stateís No. 1 ranked team in Division 2 is looking to take the next step after a quarterfinal appearance last year. With top-notch talent like seniors Steve Mann (Duke) and Nick Neibauer (Bowling Green) and junior John Malcom (Vanderbilt), the Yellowjackets may have what it takes.

2) Birmingham Groves (28-4): The Falcons are proving last yearís 30+ win season and district title were no fluke. They have already captured the OAA White title and are ranked No. 3 in Division 1. Zavier Warren (Central Michigan), John Kowalchuk, Chaise Ford and Max Novick (Kalamazoo College) are a determined bunch for coach Shawn Morrison.

3) Brother Rice (21-6-1): No team may have lost more to graduation. But no team may have as much talent returning in 2017. The Warriors will be playing for their sixth straight CHSL title next week. Junior Reece Trahey and seniors Alex Kuster (Ohio) and Chris Faust (Grand Valley) have been the collective straws that have stirred the Warriors this season.

4) Bishop Foley (17-11-1): Not only is perennial road block Liggett not in the Venturesí district or region, the Knights have moved up to Division 1. That bodes well for Foley, which has seniors Justin Campbell (Tulane) and Chase Gearing (Saginaw Valley) along with juniors Mason Minzey (Texas Tech) and Ethan Hoffman ready to help the team make a push for its first state title since 2013.

5) Walled Lake Northern (18-9): Coming off a district title last year, the Knights are well on their way to a repeat performance this spring. The team shared the KLAA North title with Lakeland and advanced to the Lakes championship game, where it fell to Brighton. Senior Nick Powell and sophomore Zach Brunet are both hitting better than .400 and junior Zack Northcott is striking out nearly a batter per inning as the teamís ace.

6) Detroit Catholic Central (13-16-1): Donít let the record fool you, the Shamrocks have played a difficult schedule, with seven of their losses coming to Brother Rice and De La Salle. But CC has played well of late and beat De La Salle last week to advance to the CHSL championship game. Senior Matt Stinebiser (Duke) and his teammates are looking to get back to regional play, where they finished last season.

7) Rochester (20-9): Last yearís regional champions are once again making noise in 2017. The Falcons recently wrapped up a share of the OAA Red championship with Lake Orion. Seniors Thomas Loftus, Albert Nagy (Northwood) and Ryan Gladstone are back to lead the way for the Falcons.

8) Lake Orion (22-12): The Dragons have put together another 20-win season, thanks in part to the stellar hitting of junior infielder Andre Orselli and the arms of seniors Tyler Moses and Ryan Kolp - as well as Orselli. Lake Orion and Rochester shared the OAA Red division title this season.

9) Lakeland (17-9): The Eagles tied Walled Lake Northern for the KLAA North title, but did not advance to the Lakes Conference title game. Senior Grant Smith (selected to the MHSBCA East-West All-Star game) leads the Eagles this weekend. Junior Cade Parmeter returns behind the plate for the Knights.

10) Oxford (17-13): The Wildcats have been just a few steps behind Rochester and Lake Orion this season in the OAA Red. Coach Dave Herrickís team has found a way to get wins this season. Seniors Mario Scribner and Ben Gingell form a solid 1-2 punch on the mound for Oxford.
