EDITOR’S NOTE: The Michigan Stars Softball Tournament was held in Grand Blanc on Saturday at Creasey Bicentennial Park. Check back later for results as they come in through the weekend and will be added to this roundup. Below under the girls section of track and field you will find links with complete results of the meet finals included in the roundup as there were quite a few of them.

CLARKSTON - In baseball action, John Kowalchuk went 5-for-6 with a double, triple, a walk, three runs scored and an RBI as Groves went 3-0 in the Nathan Manuel Memorial Tournament on Saturday.

In the first game, Groves defeated Clarkston 11-1 in five innings. Zavier Warren went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and three RBI. Ryan Laub recorded the win on the mound with four innings pitched, two hits, one run, with two walks and six strikeouts.

In the second game, Groves defeated Clarkston 4-1. Rolando Arambula threw a complete game, two hits, gave up on unearned run with two walks and two strikeouts. Michael Pastoria went 1-for-2 with a walks and a run scored for Groves. Joe Halligan and Zach Scott went 1-for-2 respectively with a double for the Wolves.

In the third game, Groves defeated Flint Carman-Ainsworth 3-1. Max Novick went 1-for-1 with two walks and two RBI. Brock Anderson went 1-for-2 with a walk. Nate Higley went 1-for-2 for Groves. Max Whalen went six innings with a walk and a strikeout. Tyler Newitt threw a perfect seventh inning to record the save with a pair of strikeouts for Groves (19-2, 7-1 OAA White). Harrison Hogan threw three innings with two walks and four strikeouts earning the no-decision for Carman-Ainsworth,

Groves will host North Farmington on Monday.

More baseball

- Waterford Kettering played in the Titan Invitational and finished (2-0) to win the tournament. In the first game, Kettering defeated Utica 1-0. Nick Brown went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Brown pitched six scoreless innings, with two walks and three strikeouts. In the second game, Kettering defeated Sterling Heights 2-1. Eli Hilliard went 2-for-3 with an RBI. James Brady pitched three scoreless innings to get the win. Brenden Harrison reached base twice and scored the go-ahead run for the Captains (6-13). Kettering faces Pinckney on Monday.

- Lakeland 4-10, Plymouth Salem 3-6 - At White Lake, In the first game, Aaron Spry went six innings on the mound with four strikeouts. Bret Lingenfelter recorded the save. Grant Smith went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. In the second game, Jack Dungan threw four and a third innings with eight strikeouts and four earned runs to record the win. Connor Snell threw two and two thirds innings as he gave up two earned runs and recorded three strikeouts. Lingenfelter had two hits and an RBI. Cade Parmeter had a triple and two for Lakeland (15-5). Lakeland will face Hartland on Monday.

Michigan Stars Softball Tournament

- Milford competed in the Michigan Stars Invitational in Grand Blanc. In the first game, Milford defeated Birmingham Seaholm 13-5. Hailey Curtis recorded the win in the circle as she pitched five innings, gave up five runs, seven hits and recorded four strikeouts. Allison Smith and Amelia Price all had three hits to lead Milford.

In the second game, Alpena topped Milford 10-2. Curtis took the loss in the circle with three innings, giving up two hits, four runs and recorded a strikeout. Jayne Bailey added an RBI. Price had two hits and an RBI and Smith had a pair of hits.

In the third game, Northville defeated Milford 12-2. Curtis took the loss in the circle. Smith, Lauren Carrannanto, Hunter Stringfellow, and Paige Grass all recorded a hit.

In the fourth game, Romeo defeated Milford 17-5. Koryn Pennebaker, Audrey Petoskey and Riley Simlar each collected multiple hits. Simlar, Stringfellow, Petoskey and Pennebaker each drove in one run.

In the final game, Milford defeated North Farmington 9-7. Koryn Pennebaker, Curtis, Petoskey, Price and Kayla Pennebaker each collected multiple hits. Lauren Carrannanto went 1-for-3 with a three run home run for the Mavericks.

- North Farmington began Saturday action in Grand Blanc and in the first game defeated the host 18-0. Sam Cherney (recorded the win in the circle) and Maeve O'Hare combined in the no-hitter. Izzy Randel added an RBI. Mara Sczecienski added three RBI. O'Hare and Cherney (5 RBI) added two hits for the Raiders. Sarah Williams (2 RBI) and Molly Simpson each added a hit. In the second game, North Farmington fell to South Lyon 7-2. Cherney pitched a complete game recording four strikeouts. Sczecienski had three hits. Simpson added two hits. Maeve O'Hare (1 RBI), Sarah Fish (1 RBI), Kelsey Center and Sarah Williams each added a hit. In the final Saturday game, North Farmington lost to Monroe 6-3. O'Hare pitched a complete game scattering seven hits and recording a strikeout. Jordyn Taylor added three hits and two RBI. O'Hare and Randel recorded two hits. Sczecienski, Cherney, Fish and Williams added a hit with Fish adding an RBI.

- North Farmington continued the second day of the tournament with a loss to Grand Blanc 9-7. Cherney pitched a complete game with three strikeouts. Sczecienski, Cherney, Williams, Randel and Jordyn Taylor added two hits and an RBI. Center added a hit and Simpson added an RBI. In the second game, North Farmington fell to Holly 10-3. O'Hare recorded five strikeouts in the circle. Cherney and Taylor each had two hits. Sczeciensk added a hit and an RBI. O'Hare added a hit and two RBI. Randel, Maddie Armstrong, Simpson and Nicole Roggow added a hit for the Raiders.

- Birmingham Seaholm split Sunday action of the tournament. In the first game, the Maples defeated Marquette 5-4. Erika MacArthur recorded the win in the circle with six strikeouts. On offense, she hit a two-run triple. Emma Jane Naegeli and Reagan Hurd each added two hits in the game. In the second game, Seaholm fell to Otisville LakeVille 12-1. In the final game, Seaholm dropped a 4-3 result to Ortonville Brandon. MacArthur cleared the left field wall with a two-run home run. Abby Righter went 3-for-4 and Sarah Hegel went 2-for-3 for the Maples.

- Clarkston 12, Detroit Renaissance 5 - Hannah Chadwell was 3-for-3 with three RBI and Sierra Kiersten homered and drove in two runs for the Wolves.

- Clarkston 6, Waterford Mott 1 - Olivia Warrington slugged a two-run homer and Sarah Kuenzel was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Wolves.

- South Lyon East, Clarkston 1 - Paige Blevins was 2-for 4 with an RBI and Anna Skvarce was 2-for-3 for the Wolves.

- Clarkston 9, Alpena 2 - Sierra Kiersten drove in three runs on a pair of hits and Naya Ansel was 2-for-2 with three RBI and Sarah Gladding struck out seven in five innings.

- South Lyon 9, Clarkston 0 - Hannah Cady and Naya Ansel each had a hit.

More softball

- Royal Oak played in a tournament and in the first game lost to Birch Run 12-1. Sierra Randle and Marissa Krynak each recorded a hit for the Ravens. Marissa Krynak and Emily Alton split time in the circle as Krynak picked up seven strikeouts while Alton added a strikeout. In the second game Royal Oak lost to Onaway 4-1. Mallory Dunbay went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Casey Meissner went 1-for-3. Annie Rabon pitched in the circle with two strikeouts.

- Hartland 16-14, Holly 1-9 – At Holly, Hartland recorded wins in the doubleheader.

Girls Soccer

- Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 4, Fraser 1 – At Fraser, Maura Kruse, Justina Gaynor, Itala Gemelli and Stephanie Maniaci scored a goal. Gaynor added an assist. Shannon Wood made seven saves for Pontiac NDP (8-3-1). The Irish face Troy on Monday.

Boys Lacrosse

- Hartland 18, Shaker Heights 10 - At Hartland, Garnet Potter scored six points on the night. Maveric Muscat and Reece Potter added five goals for Hartland (15-0).

- Northville 19, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 6 – At Northville, Zach Adkins had two goals and two assists. Ryan Genord, Jonathan Chabot, Chris Fitzpatrick and Lorenzo Minaudo all had a goal and an assist. Diego Collazo had time in net for ND Prep (7-5).

Girls Lacrosse

- Huron Valley United 11, Grand Blanc 9 – At Grand Blanc, Kady Waits scored three goals. Britney Leist, Natalie Busen, Eden Vansicklen and Amanda Thiele each had two goals. Olivia Racine and Rachel Linkhorn split time in net for the win. Trisha Harris and Aubrey Beugin provided solid defense throughout the game. The next contest for the Titans will be against Hartland on Wednesday.

- Wixom St. Catherine of Siena finished in second place with 112 points. Scoring for the Stars were: The 3200 Relay team (2nd, McDonough, Borek, Dolowy, Ryan); 100 Hurdles (2nd. Groves picked up a pair of wins over Clarkston 11-1 and 4-1 respectively and topped Flint Carman-Ainsworth 3-1 in the finale on Saturday.
