COMMERCE TOWNSHIP - In baseball action, Jake Frelich went 3-for-3 with an RBI as Walled Lake Northern edged Lakeland 4-1 in five innings on Wednesday.

Nick Powell and Kyle Gilbert each finished 1-for-2 with a run driven in and Jake Haver allowed one run on two hits while striking out four in five innings pitched for Northern (4-4 overall, 2-2 KLAA North).

Spencer Shorling and Conner Snell each tallied a double and Bret Lingenfelter drove in a run for Lakeland.

Due to rainy conditions, the second game of Wednesday’s planned doubleheader will be rescheduled.

- Stoney Creek 7-0, Rochester Adams 2-1 - At Rochester Hills, in the first game, which was continued from Monday, Garrett Borowski scattered six hits and one earned run over six innings pitched, Trevor Hunsanger finished with a double and three runs driven in and Tyler Lamendola contributed two RBI for Stoney Creek, while Andrew Carol, Chase Lusader and Ryan Roggenbuch all provided two hits each for Adams. In the nightcap, Alex Mannhalt tossed a complete-game, one-hit shutout on the mound, Zach Soldan and Anthony Kania each contributed a pair of hits and Connor McClennen drove in the game-winning run for Adams, while Reid Herbstreith pitched seven innings and allowed one run on five hits and struck out five for the Cougars.

- Auburn Hills Avondale 4, Troy 2 - At Troy, Alex Mueller went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Brandon Wynn went 1-for-4 with an RBI as he recorded the game-winning single in the seventh inning. Sophomore Ethan Jewell recorded his first varsity win as he pitched two and a third scoreless innings for Avondale (9-4, 1-2). Carter Scillion went 1-for-3 with a double and Scott Mittelbrun went 1-for-2 with a double for Troy (4-3, 2-1).

- Birmingham Groves 13, Farmington 3 (5 Innings) – At Farmington, In the resumed suspended game from Monday, John Kowalchuk went 1-for-2 with a triple, he was hit by a pitch twice, added three runs scored and four RBI. Nick Ringler had a pinch-hit single and a run scored. Chaise Ford threw a complete game win giving up just five hits, three earned runs, had a pair of walks and recorded four strikeouts. Groves as a team drew 11 walks in the game (6-0). Scott Newhard 1-for-1 with a walk and an RBI. Artie Bentley went 1-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored for Farmington (5-4). - Orchard Lake St. Mary’s 7, Elyria Catholic (OH) 6 (11 Innings) – At Ohio, Dillon Kark went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and two RBI. He recorded the win in relief in pitching two innings and allowing one hit while registering three strikeouts. Damon Leja went 3-for-6 with two RBI. Harrison Poeszat went 2-for-4 with an RBI for OLSM (5-7). OLSM begins a three-game series with Novi Detroit Catholic Central on Friday and continues through Saturday.

- Oxford 2, Rochester 1 (8 Innings) - At Rochester, Ben Gingell and Connor Romine allowed a combined two hits while totaling eight strikeouts on the mound, Gage Warzecha and Ben Nuss each tallied a hit and a run scored and Zak Schwerin, Anthony D’Alessandro and Mario Scribner all provided a hit each for Oxford, which plated runs in the fourth and eighth innings. Rochester scored in the third inning.

Softball

- Stoney Creek 16, Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest 3 - At Rochester Hills, Tina Vitale and Kaira Schafrick each hit a home run for Stoney Creek.

- Waterford Kettering 12, Waterford Mott 1 (5 Innings) - At Waterford, Madison French struck out six to earn the win in the circle and also provided a pair of hits at the plate, Lexi Weston tallied three hits and Maggie Henrickson and Maddy Garza each finished with two hits for Kettering (5-1).

- Lakeland 3, Walled Lake Northern 1 - At Commerce, Teresa Menzel pitched five-plus innings and allowed one unearned run on three hits while walking one and striking out four in the circle and also added a hit on offense, Lauren Castellon finished with two doubles and a run scored, Madeline Langdon was 1-for-2 with an RBI single, Mary Zimmerman had a double and Brooke Perry provided a hit for Lakeland, which moves to 5-0. Sam Harris went 1-for-2 with an RBI and MacKenzie Knight was 1-for-2 for Northern (4-1) in the weather-shortened game. The nightcap of the doubleheader was postponed.

Girls Soccer

- Madison Heights Lamphere 7, Marysville 0 - At Madison Heights, Ava Riley notched three goals, Destiny Carr netted a pair and Corrie Seng and Madison Webster each added a tally for Lamphere (4-0-2 overall, 3-0-1 MAC).

- Novi 3, Northville 0 (From Tuesday) - Avery Fenchel and Jessie Bandyk added a goal for Novi (3-0-1). Carlie Castiglione and Freshman Ellie Thallman were in net for Northville (0-4-1).

- Bloomfield Hills 4, Royal Oak 1 (From Tuesday) – The Ravens lost the game at home.

- Lakeland 2, Waterford Mott 1 - (From Tuesday) At Waterford, Megan Reiter tallied two goals and Brooke Bruletti played in net for Lakeland.

- Holly 2, Auburn Hills Avondale 2 - (From Tuesday) At Holly, Payton Price and Victoria Karakuc each tallied a goal in the game’s opening five minutes and Lalli Valdovinos played in net for Holly (1-1-3). Avondale scored one goal in each half.

- Ortonville Brandon 10, Pontiac 0 - (From Monday) At Ortonville, Brandon improves to 4-0 and had 10 different players register a goal.

Boys Golf

- Birmingham Seaholm finished first at an OAA Red league meet, held at Oakland University and was led by Henry Scavone, who shot a 72, Jackson Jones, who fired a 75, Jack Muir, who notched a 78, Haden Cunningham, who added a 79, and Matt Jackson, who also had a 79.

- Sterling Heights Stevenson 168, Clawson 192 - Garrett Sarvello shot a 40 for Clawson.

- Clawson 168, Warren Mott 169 - (From Tuesday) Garrett Sarvello shot a 40 for Clawson.

- Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett 181, Birmingham Roeper 191 – (From Tuesday) Lukas Sznewajs (44); Miles Hicks (46) and Austin Deguia (48) recorded top scores for Roeper.

Boys Lacrosse

- North Farmington 10, Auburn Hills Avondale 3 – (From Tuesday) At Farmington Hills, Carlos Tobar had four goals and two assists. Ryan Darnell added three goals and two assists. Drew Hinckley had a pair of goals. Ben Fernquist added a goal. Eric O'Kins and Kevin Prabhakar added an assists for North Farmington (2-3).

- Rochester 8, Oxford 6 (From Tuesday) - At Oxford, Gavin Fritz had a goal and an assist. Garrett Stuk scored a pair of goals. Spencer Petoskey, Dryden Calcaterra and Sam Urban scored a goal for Oxford.

- Hartland 18, Waterford United 3 - Hartland took the win on the road.

- Dillon Kark, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s baseball – Kark recorded the win in relief with a scoreless two and a third innings. At the plate, he went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and two RBI as OLSM earned a 7-6 win over Elyria Catholic (OH) in 11 innings on Wednesday.

- Alex Mannhalt, Rochester Adams baseball - Mannhalt helped Adams win the second of two games completed Wednesday, twirling a one-hit shutout on the mound that led his squad past Stoney Creek, 1-0. Stoney Creek won the first game, 7-2.

- Jake Frelich, Walled Lake Northern baseball - Frelich finished 3-for-3 with a run driven in and helped lift Northern past Lakeland, 4-1, in a five-inning, rain-shortened game Wednesday.
