EDITOR’S NOTE: Look for more softball coverage from tournament action later this evening and weekend.

TROY – In softball action, several teams from Oakland and Macomb County competed in the Troy Athens Red Hawk Invitational on Saturday.

Athens, Rochester, Stoney Creek, Birmingham Detroit Country Day and Berkley represented Oakland County while Warren Woods Tower and Warren Mott represented Macomb County.

Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett won the tournament by defeating Troy Athens 9-1 in the championship game.

Rochester finished in third place by defeating Warren Woods Tower 10-8 in the consolation game. Stoney Creek placed fifth with a 7-4 victory over Country Day while Berkley finished in seventh place with an 11-1 victory over Warren Mott.

More softball

- Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes 10, Novi Franklin Road Christian 0 (6 innings) - At Novi, Hannah Davies went 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBI and lead the charge with a win in the circle with 15 strikeouts. Megan Ross and Olivia Warrington went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI for WOLL (14-1, 11-1 CHSL).


- Rochester Adams 3-2, Walled Lake Central 2-4 – At Rochester, Ryan Roggenbuch went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Matt McClennen had a run scored and two stolen bases. Jackson Hohauser had two walks and a run scored. Ryan Coopmans went 2-for-2 with a sacrifice fly. Alex Mannhalt recorded the win on the mound with just one hit and recording three strikeouts for Adams. Richard Erpelding went 1-for-3 with a run scored. Christian Hakim went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Jimmy Kandah took the loss pitching five innings, six hits, three runs, two walks and three strikeouts for Central. In the second game, Alex Kapitula went 3-for-3. Chase Lusader went 2-for-2 with a run scored for Adams. Yoshihiro Monhara recorded two walks, a run scored and an RBI. Ben Vigliarolo went 1-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and a walk. Pierson Hoy and Erpelding added an RBI. Zach Walter recorded the win going six innings, with eight hits and two runs for Central.

- Berkley 6, Royal Oak 3 – At Berkley, Kyle Domzalski recorded the win on the mound. He gave up just one hit, two runs and recorded four strikeouts. Zach Gregorich went 1-for-3 and had two RBI. Ryan Austin went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Berkley will face Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood at Comerica Park 7 p.m. on Monday.

- Walled Lake Western 1-4, Oxford 0-5 - At Oxford, In the first game, Connor Kin pitched a one-hitter and went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Chase Williamson went 2-for-2 with a walk and three stolen bases. Brad Wood pitched a complete game and had five strikeouts for Oxford.

In the second nine inning game, Williamson went 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Noah Christie went 2-for-4 and had two RBI. Keith Carpenter went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Carpenter started the second game and pitched seven innings with three earned runs. Kevin Guggamos took the loss in extras for Western (4-12). A walk-off single from Cameron Goike (2-for-4) proved to be the difference for the Wildcats. Mario Scribner reached base twice and scored a run. Zak Schwerin had an RBI single. Anthony D'Alessandro hit a two-run single for Oxford.

- Trenton 2, Madison Heights Lamphere 1 - Hilton Yopp had two hits. Trenton Newby added a hit for Lamphere. Trevor Towe recorded the win on the mound with four innings pitched and five strikeouts. Tyler Crawford had an RBI for Trenton.

- Bloomfield Hills 14-12, Waterford Kettering 0-1 - At Bloomfield Hills, Patrick Najor went five innings, giving up two hits and striking out four, Max Rosenfeld had three hits. Aaron Schruer went 2-for-3 with two RBI and four runs. Troy Saruna added two hits, three stolen bases, and two runs. In the second game, Austin Terlecky went four innings, giving up one hit. Brandon Till recorded two hits and two RBI. Andrew Denk added two hits, two RBI, and two runs scored. Bloomfield (11-7-1)

- Auburn Hills Avondale 7-12, Birmingham Seaholm 6-2 - At Auburn Hills, In the first eight inning game, Travis Janes went 4-for-5 with two runs scored. Jake Pershern and Brad Kavka had two hits and two RBI. In the second game, Janes went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Adam Mansfield, Pershern and Chris Andrus had two hits and three RBI. Kavka pitched a complete game victory for Avondale (13-4). Shawn Miller went 3-for-3 with a run scored for Seaholm (8-6).

- Rockford 8-0, Troy 5-1 - At Grand Rapids, In the first ten inning game, Aaron Sexton went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored, a walk and an RBI. Carter Scillion went 2-for-4 for Troy. In the second four inning game, Scillion went 1-for-1 with a walk for Troy (3-13). The rest of the game was called due to rain.

- Lakeland 6, Trenton 0 - Tyler Cleasby and Hunter Roberts recorded two hits. Roberts recorded a pair of RBI. Cass Phillips and Cleasby had an RBI for Lakeland.

- Saline 12-2, Novi Detroit Catholic Central 1-2 (From Friday) – In the first game, Zach Schwarttzenberger, Jake Finkbeiner, Mike Schuby and Rich Hovde led the Saline attack with two hits apiece. Ted Eppinga picked up the win allowing one hit in four innings. In the second game, Johnny Lobbia recorded his first varsity win with six innings of four-hit ball to go along with two walks and four strikeouts. Matt Stinebiser scored the game-winning hit on a bases loaded single in the bottom of the seventh inning for Catholic Central (8-8).

Girls Soccer

- Birmingham Seaholm 3, Royal Oak 0 - At Royal Oak,, Natalie Erne, Maddie Sparks and Cate Brown each scored a goal. Cate Brown, Mika Hamady and Katie O'Connor each provided one assist. Alaina Betz, achieved six saves with a shutout.

Boys Lacrosse

- Hartland 10, Portage Central 4 - Sam Highland scored two goals. Mitchell Cotten and Scott Wistinghausen added a goal. Reece Potter and Jake Gallaher had two assists for Hartland.

Boys Track and Field

- Southfield Christian participated in the Dearborn Crestwood Invitational and finished in 16th place with a score of six points. The Eagles placed eight in the 400, 800 and 3200 relay respectively. Trent Temple was the lone individual medalist. Temple (6th, high jump, 5-8); Running the 400 and 800 relays were Josh Simms, Elijah Hicks, DeShawn Moore, and Richard Feagin. Running the 3200 relay team were Max Vowles, Jonathan Sullivan, Rodger Johnson, and Mark Harting for Southfield Christian.

Girls Track and Field

- Southfield Christian participated in the Dearborn Crestwood Invitational and finished in 10th place with a score of 25 points. Kaelin Ray medaled in four events: (7th, high jump, 4-8); (4th, 100 hurdles, 17.1); (6th, 300 hurdles, 50.8); Ray lead a leg in the 1600 relay (7th, 4.33). Chika Amene medaled in three events: (4th, 200 meters, 26.82); (2nd, 400 meters, 1:03 and anchoring the 1600 relay). Joining Ray and Amene on the 7th place 1600 team were Grace Allan and Grace McFerrin.

- Hannah Davies, Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes softball – Davies went 2-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBI and lead the charge with a win in the circle with 15 strikeouts as WOLL defeated Novi Franklin Road Christian 10-0 on Saturday.

- Travis Janes, Auburn Hills Avondale baseball – Janes went 7-for-9 with three runs scored and an RBI as Avondale grabbed a doubleheader sweep of Birmingham Seaholm with 7-6 and 12-2 victories respectively on Saturday.

- Chase Williamson, Walled Lake Western baseball – Williamson went 5-for-5 with two walks, two runs scored and five stolen bases to help Western earn a split of the doubleheader against Oxford. Western won the first game 1-0 and lost the nightcap 5-4 on Saturday.
