Brother Rice quarterback Alex Malzone commits to Michigan

One of the state's most sought-after football recruits for the Class of 2015 is off of the board, so to speak.

Alex Malzone, currently a junior at Birmingham Brother Rice who helped lead the Warriors to a Division 2 state championship last November and who in the process became a primary target for several notable Division I programs, committed to Michigan on Monday.

Malzone tweeted the commitment on Monday morning while also posting a photo of him and U-M head coach Brady Hoke.

"I'm very honored and blessed to say that I have committed to play football at the University of Michigan #GoBlue," Malzone tweeted out.

Malzone is a three-star prospect according to rivals.com and is ranked as the No. 16 quarterback prospect nationally.

He passed for close to 3,000 yards and 25 touchdowns last year for the Warriors.
