WARREN — Hannah Zapczynski scored a first-half goal and Pontiac Notre Dame Prep edged Warren Regina, 1-0, in Catholic League girls soccer action Thursday.

Megan Kraus recorded her fifth shutout of the season by making six saves in net for Notre Dame Prep (7-0, 4-0 CHSL). Regina is 1-3-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the CHSL.

— Livonia Ladywood 7, Madison Heights Bishop Foley 3 — At Livonia, Rachel Sherman had two goals and Lori Stolz tallied one goal for Bishop Foley (0-4-1, 0-3-1 Catholic League). Clare Kelley scored twice for Ladywood (6-1-2, 2-1-1).

— WOLL/CEC 3, Royal Oak Shrine 1 — Alex Troy scored the go-ahead goal and Lindsay Straw recorded two assists for WOLL/CEC (4-0-0).

— WOLL/CEC 6, Marine City Cardinal Mooney 0 — From Tuesday, Alex Troy netted two goals and Lindsay Straw had a goal and an assist for WOLL/CEC (3-0).



Softball

— Grosse Pointe South 2, Birmingham Detroit Country Day 0 — At Beverly Hills, Jackie Spizizen was 1-for-3 at the plate and also pitched seven innings, striking out 12 and giving up two unearned runs for Country Day (0-1). Erin Bouilke was 2-for-3 and Liz St. John gave up two hits and struck out 10 on the mound for Grosse Pointe South (3-2).



Baseball

— Rochester 19, Southfield-Lathrup 5 (6 innings) — At Rochester, Anthony Cicala went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI, Joey Doneth added three RBI and Mitch Weber had a two-run home run for Rochester (4-0).

— St. Clair Shores Lakeview 6, Auburn Hills Avondale 3 — At Warren, Travis Janes and Brenden Embrey combined for four hits and a run scored to lead Avondale (1-3). Ben Beckas pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs, striking out six. Steve Chuna and Sam Selleck combined for four hits and two runs scored for Lakeview (3-2).

— Auburn Hills Avondale 12, Warren Mott 7 — At Warren, Brenden Embrey, Chris Andrus and Tony Mulka combined for seven hits, two RBI and four runs scored to pace the Yellow Jackets (1-3). Avondale’s Travis Janes recorded the victory on the mound, allowing one earned run and striking out seven, while Steve Payok went 3-for-3 with a home run for Mott.

— Birmingham Seaholm 9-3, Stoney Creek 5-14 — At Warren, Adam Yax and Scott Reader combined for four hits and three RBI to lead Stoney Creek (2-1) in game one, while Alex Breeden and Jacob McElroy each had two hits for Seaholm in the opener. In game two, Stoney Creek’s Yax and Brett Tokley combined for five hits and eight RBI and Joe Hamrick recorded the victory on the mound for the Cougars allowing two runs and striking out six in 5 1/3 innings.

— Sterling Heights Parkway Christian 6, Novi Franklin Road Christian 3 — At Novi, Ryan Stewart and Riley McManas combined for five hits and four RBI to lead Parkway Christian. Kyle Harris and Paul Alex combined for four hits and two runs scored to pace the Warriors’ offense. Freshman Evon Lorey made his varsity debut allowing one earned run and striking out three in four innings of work for Franklin Road Christian (2-2).

— West Bloomfield 20, Birmingham Detroit Country Day 5 (4 innings) — Josh Birnberg tallied a home run and four RBI and Daike Nishioka added two hits and two RBI for West Bloomfield.

— Royal Oak Shrine 15-23, Marine City Cardinal Mooney 1-4 — At Royal Oak, Tom Peaslee was 4-for-5 with five RBI on the day, Drake Eckert went 6-for-10 with 10 RBI on the day and Mike Guirey chipped in four hits and seven RBI on the day for Shrine (2-0, 2-0 CHSL).



Boys lacrosse

— Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 11, Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard 9 — At Pontiac, Jake Jeszke tallied three goals and three assists and Peter Eichhorn made 14 saves in net for Notre Dame Prep (5-3), while Steven Ramos had three goals and an assist for Gabriel Richard (6-3).
