Saturday's Prep Roundup: Birmingham Unified edges Jesuit in boys lacrosse action

BIRMINGHAM — In boys lacrosse action, Mike Kemper scored four goals to lead Birmingham Unified past U of D Jesuit 12-11 on Saturday afternoon. Emmett Green scored twice and Charlie Schierfer had a goal and three assists for Unified (3-0).

— Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 7, Novi 6 — At Pontiac, Jake Jeszke scored two goals and added an assist and Mark Thierbacker added two goals for Prep (2-1). Peter Eichhorn made 21 saves. Novi was lead by Ryan Moore who scored two goals. (0-2).

Girls Lacrosse

— Grand Blanc 11, Oxford 7 — At Oxford, Kayce Calcaterra scored three goals for Oxford and Claire Seely had a goal and an assist for Oxford. Rose FitzCrane had 11 saves for Oxford.

— Rockford 11, Birmingham Marian 3 — In the first game of the East vs. West Tournament, Marian’s three goals were scored by Caroline Forester.

— Okemos 9, Birmingham Marian 6 — In the second game of the East vs. West Tournament, Maria Bechares led the Mustang goal scorers with her first two goals of the season. Colleen Grombala, Caroline Forester and Sarah Peterson also scored for Marian.

— Birmingham Marian 6, Grand Rapids Catholic Central 5 — In the third game of the East vs. West Tournament, the game-winning goal was scored by Claire Fisher for Marian. Gretchen Klein and Michaela Renaud also scored for for the Mustangs.

Girls Tennis

Pontiac Notre Dame Prep won the Portland Indoor tournament Saturday at Michigan State University. The Irish totaled 19 points, beating out Portland 15, Armada 11 and DeWitt (3). Kayla Stencel and Hannah Preuss won flight championships at 1-2 singles. Prep swept the doubles competition, as Annie and Julie Boniface won at No. 1, Hannah Dinardo and Allison Kavanagh at No. 2, Ila Batah and Nicole Gerber at No. 3 and Sara Hanna and Mira Housey at No. 4 doubles.

— Birmingham Marian 6, Brighton 0 — At Brighton, Hannah Redoute and Jacqueline Doman scored two goals for Marian and Kelly Sweeney recorded two assists.

— Lake Orion 1, Davison 1 — At Lake Orion, Madz Ham scored and Nicole Crier recorded an assist for Lake Orion (0-0-1). Lauren Austitz made two saves. Alayna Hilgendorf scored for Davison and Katrine Jalris made three saves (0-0-1).

— Troy 5, Lapeer West 3 — At Troy, Sarah Troccoli scored twice and added two assists for Troy. Michelle Babst and Dani Mukomel and Emily Artzberger also added a goal apiece. (1-0-0).
