Saturday's Prep Roundup: Cranbrook's 18-game win streak comes to end against U of D Jesuit in hockey

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — In hockey action, The Cranes 18-game win streak comes to an end as U of D Jesuit used a three-goal first period to claim a 4-2 victory over Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood on Saturday evening.

C.J. Regula and Jon Pensler scored for Cranbrook. Christopher Brown and Sam Miletic recorded assists (18-1-0). Teddy Apap scored a goal and had two assists and Peter Hunt had a goal and an assist for Jesuit.

— Berkley Unified 8, Marysville 0 — At Rochester, Ian Melrose scored a goal and had two assists and Shane Goldberg had three assists for Berkley (13-3-1). Stephen Wroe made 18 saves in goal to get the shutout.

— Auburn Hills Avondale 6, Utica 6 — At Rochester, Emmett Wagner scored three goals and Nick Poplars scored a goal and had three assists for Avondale (13-5-1).

— Lake Orion 2, Utica Eishenhower 2 — At Rochester, Jordan Stross had a goal and an assist and Josh Gould scored for Lake Orion (14-4-2).

— Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 5, Madison Heights Bishop Foley 2 — Dallas Ingraham scored three goals for Prep. Nick Garbarz and Andrew Williamson scored for Bishop Foley (5-13-1).

— Walled Lake Western 7, Walled Lake Central 5 — At Lakeland, Chris Donaldson had a hat trick in the first period alone, and went on to finish with four goals to lead the Warriors past the Vikings. Wes Sjogren added two goals and Austin Morgan scored the other in the win. Murphy Nye finished with three assists. For Central, Cam Stevenson and Jerret each had two goals, while Ryan Kalis scored the other.

— Troy 6, Warren-Mott 3 — At Rochester Hills, six different Colts scored in this OAA-MAC Showcase matchup Saturday afternoon. Harry Stoolmiller, Nik Bester, John Hunter, Pearce Baker, Jesse Nahhat and Ramone Kammo all scored for Troy, while Lawrence Rowe finished with three assists.

— Farmington 3, Anchor Bay 2 — At Rochester Hills, Drake Cole had two goals and an assist to lead the Falcons to the victory. Jason Petras also scored for Farmington. John Lethemon stopped 26 of 28 shots to get the win in goal.

— Howell 8, Lakeland 1 — At Lakeland, the Highlanders got the best of the Eagles in this matchup of KLAA divisional winners Saturday.



Boys Basketball

— Stoney Creek 61, Auburn Hills Avondale 52 — At Auburn Hills, Patrick Mertz recorded a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds for Stoney Creek (8-3, 3-2). Jabbar Mims scored 17 points for Avondale (3-6).

— Southfield Christian 61, Birmingham Roeper 34 — At Southfield, Marlo Brown scored 22 points for Southfield Christian (12-1, 8-0). Max Whipple scored 12 points for Roeper (4-4).



Girls Basketball

— Rochester Hills Christian 47, Temple Christian 33 (OH) — At Pensacola (OH), Ashley Parker had 14 points, a career-high 30 rebounds and four assists and Makayla Smith had 15 points and 10 rebounds For Rochester Hills Christian. Jenna Porter had 12 points and five blocks (11-0).

— Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood 40, Royal Oak Shrine 38 — At Bloomfield Hills, Jamie Beckett scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Lexi Dietz scored 11 points for Cranbrook (5-8, 3-5).

— Bloomfield Hills 69, Farmington 43 — At Bloomfield Hills, Alex Jackson scored 21 points. Shannon Wilson and Shailynn Brown added 16 points for Bloomfeld Hills (11-3, 6-3 OAA White). Mya Douse scored 13 points and Maria Peurach added 12 points for Farmington (3-12, 1-8).

— Southfield Christian 48, Birmingham Roeper 45 — At Southfield, Chloe Godbold scored 19 points for Southfield Christian. Nadia Salman scored 10 points for Roeper.



Boys Bowling

— At Clinton Township, In the Motor City Tournament Spencer Urban shot a 563 series for Pontiac Notre Dame Prep.



Cheer

— At the Clawson Invitational, The Southfield Christian team finished in first place with a score of 658.06. The team will compete once more before the district meet when they host the MIAC schools on Thursday at 7 p.m.
