Friday's Prep Roundup: Jackson's double-double leads Rochester over Farmington in girls basketball

ROCHESTER — In girls hoops action, DeAvary Jackson records a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds to help Rochester defeat Farmington 48-42 on Friday night. Zo Schultz had five points and eight assists for Rochester (2-0). Mya Douse scored 13 points and Amani Echols scored eight points for Farmington (0-2).

— Rochester Hills Christian 63, Novi Firebirds 16 — At Rochester Hills, Jenna Porter tallied 33 points and eight steals, Ashley Parker added eight points, 14 rebounds and seven assists and Kindra Armitage had nine points for Rochester Hills Christian (5-0).

— Troy 54, Lake Orion 48 — At Lake Orion, Rachael Zelmanski poured in 18 and Sally Muller added 12 for Troy (6-0, 2-0 OAA White). Evelyn Wishmeyer scored 11 for Lake Orion (3-3, 0-2).

— Southfield Christian 57, Michigan Collegiate 29 — At Southfield, Charity Godbold had 31 points and Kelley Brooks scored 14 for the Lady Eagles (4-1).

— Madison Heights Lamphere 45, Clinton Township Clintondale 33 — At Madison Heights, junior twins Allison and Erin Denmark led Lamphere (3-3, 1-0 MAC Silver). Erin poured in a game-high 14 points and 17 rebounds, while Allison racked up nine points and 14 rebounds in the win.

— Birmingham Seaholm 67, Hazel Park 18 — At Birmingham, Elise Tolbert collected 24 points and Mackenzie Harbort added 15 for Seaholm (5-0, 2-0 OAA Blue). Dominique Coleman scored 10 for Hazel Park.

— Royal Oak 51, Berkley 34 — At Berkley, Jessica Ross scored 13 points, while Sam Bartelotti added 10 points, three assists, and four steals for Royal Oak (5-1, 2-0 OAA Blue).

— Southfield Bradford 53, Detroit Cristo Rey 24 — At Southfield, Stephanie Murray scored 13, Shavonna Gholston added 11 and Jamila Toney had 10 for Bradford (4-2). Cristo Rey is 3-3.

— Oxford 67, Birmingham Groves 31 — At Birmingham, Jessica Murphy scored 27 points for Oxford (6-1, 1-1). Madison Meredith scored nine points for Groves.

— Ferndale 57, Southfield 37 — At Ferndale, Amber Williams collected 20 points and seven rebounds, Taryn Stephens added nine points and 10 rebounds and Micaela Ellis had 14 points and 12 assists for Ferndale (3-1, 2-0 OAA Blue). Cortney Williams had 11 for Southfield.



Boys Basketball

— Rochester Hills Christian 86, Novi Firebirds 36 — At Rochester Hills, Ryan Patton led all scorers with 21 points and five steals, Marquez Hatcher added 19 points and four assists, and Brandon Puttle contributed 13 points in the win for Rochester Hills (8-1).

— Madison Heights Madison 70, Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest 40 — At Madison Heights, Jaylin Golson had 10 points and four blocks, Anthony Love had 14 points and eight rebounds and A.J. Williams had seven assists for Madison (3-1).

— Clawson 37, Royal Oak 34 — At Royal Oak, Marquian Johnson scored eight points, had 11 rebounds, five assists, five steals, and four blocks. Kavon Thompson had 10 points, 10 rebounds and four steals for Clawson (3-0). Tim Kohloff scored 12 points for Royal Oak (3-2).

— Troy 45, West Bloomfield 42 — At Troy, Chris Dorsey totaled 15 points and Craig Duggan added nine for Troy (2-1, 1-0 OAA White). Anton Lucaj scored 15 for West Bloomfield (3-1, 0-1).

— Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes 79, Novi Franklin Road Christian 65 — At Waterford, Vinnie Puma scored 20 points for WOLL. Scott McSweeney scored 21 points for Franklin Road (0-2).

— Walled Lake Central 65, Farmington Hills Harrison 34 — At Walled Lake, Nate Collins scored 15 points for Central (5-0). Calvin Butler scored 11 points for Harrison.

— Roseville 47, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 44 — At Pontiac, Jerimiah Johnson scored16 points, and James Durkin scored 11 points to go with 14 rebounds in the loss for Notre Dame Prep (1-2).

— Clarkston Everest Collegiate 47, Plymouth Christian Academy 42 — At Clarkston, Owen McMahon rattled off 15 points and Noah Beauchamp added 13 for Everest Collegiate (2-2). Daniel Jipping had 19 for Plymouth Christian Academy.



Hockey

— Clarkston 2, Macomb Dakota 1 — At Detroit, Garrett Polish scored both goals for Clarkston and Nick Serovic was the winning goaltender (7-3-1). Clarkston will play in the championship game on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

— West Bloomfield 7, L’Anse Creuse North 2 — At West Bloomfield, Evan Root and Cameron Dickinson scored three goals and Andrew McDonald scored for the Lakers (3-6-0).



Wrestling

— Pontiac Notre Dame Prep’s Joey Agro at 119 and Kyler Kirk at the 152 weight class participated in the Oakland Country tournament. This marks the first time in five years that a made it to a county tournament. John Potwardowski at the 125 class finished 1-2 on the day.
