Daniel Collins played a brilliant game in net for Bishop Foley Catholic Friday night against Ann Arbor Skyline. But it just wasn’t enough. Skyline shut out Bishop Foley 3-0. The game was played at Yost Arena.

Collins turned away every shot he faced in the first period and all but one in the second period.

Skyline’s Jeremy Bourque netted the goal. It was the third shot that Collins faced in a quick flurry of shots. Cooper Schmunk and Noah Wegryn took the first two shots and earned assists on the Bourque goal.

“We play good in bunches. We did not execute for the whole game. We have a lax moment, and it seems to bite us,” was the assessment of Bishop Foley Head Coach Dave Williamson.

Bishop Foley had three power play opportunities in the first two periods but could not convert. Foley played penalty free in the first two periods.

Skyline scored early again in the third period.

Two and a half minutes into the period, Patrick Dahlmann was the third man in on a three man rush into the Foley end. The puck was drop passed by Skyline’s Erik Kadar to Dahlmann who was almost directly behind him. Dahlmann let a wicked shot fly that squeaked through Collins pads for the game’s second goal.

With 1:42 left in the third period, Skyline’s Reid Tennant scored the third goal. Schmunk got the solo assist.

Bishop Foley had two minor penalties in the third period. Skyline had one minor penalty. Penalties did not figure in any of the goals.

With loss, Bishop Foley’s record falls to 2-4.

Williamson still has high faith in his team. “This team is very talented. They just don’t know how good they are.”
