Randy Righter (SR), Birmingham Brother Rice P/1B – Committed to Bowling Green University
One of the state’s best hitters from the first base position, Righter verbally committed to play for Bowling Green after he finishes his career with the Warriors in the spring. Righter also proved to be one of the best No. 2 pitchers in the state of Michigan as he helped form one of the deepest and most dangerous pitching staffs around in the 2013 season for Brother Rice.
P.J. Piesko (SR), Oxford P – Committed to Oakland University
Piesko, a 6-1 lefty, gave his commitment to pitch for Oakland after wrapping up his senior season next spring with the Wildcats. Last season the senior southpaw, who also plays first base when he’s not pitching, helped pitch the Wildcats to a spot in the district finals last spring and spun a two-hitter for Oxford in a district semifinal win over Clarkston.
Micaela Ellis (SR), Ferndale PG – Committed to Longwood University (Va.)
One of the area’s top point guards, Ellis recently gave her verbal commitment to play for Longwood University after she finishes her high school career on the hardwood this winter. In her junior season, Ellis averaged 14.6 points per game along with over five assists per contest and nearly four steals as she helped lead the Eagles to an unbeaten record in the OAA Blue last winter.
