Tuesday's Prep Roundup: Kettering, Groves, Cranbrook among soccer winners

WATERFORD — Waterford Kettering was able to defeat cross-town rival Waterford Mott 2-0 in a KLAA north soccer match.

Kettering got a first half goal from Jake Perry that was assisted by Drake Morgan. Matt Korey made five saves to preserve the shutout for the Captains. Jacob Alessi scored Kettering’s second half goal.

— Novi Detroit Catholic Central 1, Birmingham Brother Rice 1 — at Novi, Michael Stroud scored on an assist from Hunter Mejaly for Brother Rice (4-4-3) in the second half. Paul Wiedmaier scored a second half goal for Catholic Central (7-2-1) on an assist from Noah Kleetke.

— Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook Kingswood 5, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 0 — at Bloomfield Hills, Jack Christides netted two goals for Cranbrook (7-1-2, 6-0-2 Catholic League). Alex Roed earned the shutout for the Cranes.

— Goodrich 2, Holly 1 — at Holly, Derick Miller scored a first half goal for Holly as his team fell to Goodrich on Monday.

— Novi Franklin Road Christian 3, Ypsilanti 2 — at Novi, Marcus Charlick scored an unassisted goal in the first and second half for Franklin Road (7-3, 6-1 MIAC). Micah Charlick added a first half goal that was assisted by Kyle Harris for Franklin Road.

— Birmingham Groves 1, Auburn Hills Avondale 0 — at Auburn Hills, Jordan Bohannon scored a second half goal that was assisted by Iain Mason for Groves (7-3-1, 6-1-1 OAA White). Kevin Simpson made seven saves while recording the shutout for Groves. Ben Richter made eight saves while taking the loss for Avondale (5-5-2, 2-3-2).

— Birmingham Roeper 4, Grosse Pointe University of Liggett 1 — at Birmingham, Max Whipple had two goals and an assist for Roeper (9-3). Graeme Schulman scored a goal and added an assist for Roeper.

— Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest 6, Southfield Christian 3 — At Rochester Hills, Chris Phillips and Ontario McDonald lead the way for Lutheran Northwest with two goals each, Cahner James and Matt Coleman also scored for Northwest. John Devine, Joel Gorr and Parker Brose scored for Southfield Christian. This victory brings Lutheran Northwest’s record to 7-5-1.

— Bloomfield Hills 1, Lake Orion 1 — At Bloomfield Hills, Brandon Rusz scored for Bloomfield Hills, assisted by Jake Teller. Alex Joneson had an unassisted goal for Lake Orion. Lake Orion’s Dylan Myers had 10 saves(0-4-4) and Bloomfield Hills’ Griffin Hamel had four saves in the tie(5-2-1).

— Troy 5, Clarkston 2 — At Troy, Tom Carlson had two goals and Mitch McDonald had two assists for Troy (4-6-1).
