MIDLAND - The Mount Pleasant High School baseball team could not muster a comeback Tuesday afternoon at Midland Dow in the completion of a game suspended due to darkness April 27, falling 6-1 in its regular season finale.

The Oilers (16-4 SVL) needed a victory to secure a share of their first league title since 2011. Instead, Midland (17-3 SVL) will claim the outright Saginaw Valley League crown.

After the game resumed at the start of the fourth inning, Mount Pleasant went down in order each of its first two innings.

The Oilers stranded two runners on base in the sixth inning, while in the seventh a leadoff single was erased by a double play. Mount Pleasant put the next two runners on base before a strikeout ended the game.

Mount Pleasant begins Division 1 district play at Bay City Central Saturday at noon against Midland.
