Second-quarter run propels Oilers past Chargers WITH GALLERY

The Mt. Pleasant High School boys basketball team picked up Saginaw Valley Conference win at home Tuesday as it downed Midland Dow by a final of 63-53.

The Oilers, who had lost to Dow by five points earlier this season, improve to 8-5 overall and to 7-3 in SVL action via the victory while the Chargers fall to 6-8 overall and to 4-7 in conference action.

Dow took a 17-11 lead at the end of one quarter before a 9-0 Mt. Pleasant run gave it the lead for good in the opening two minutes of the second quarter.

The Oilers led 33-27 at the half and pushed the lead to double digits in the second half. Dow got back within six at 53-47 with four minutes left in regulation before the Oilers sealed it.

Noah Ingram paced the Oilers with 17 while Obie Ricumstrict had 13 and Mason Wojtusik 16.
