The Mt. Pleasant High School boys hockey team remained unbeaten Wednesday night as it topped Freeland by a count of 4-1.

It is the best start in the six-year history of the Oilers’ program.

Kyle Reihl scored 12 minutes into the contest to give Mt. Pleasant a 1-0 advantage. Max Trucks and Zach Heeke assisted on the goal.

Max Trucks made it 2-0 later in the first period on an unassisted goal, while Freeland cut it in half to 2-1 midway through the second period.

Mitchell Haines added a tally for the Oilers later in the second period as Max Trucks assisted. The final goal came on a Kyle Trucks slap shot early in the third period.

Andrew Lambert made 13 saves on the night for Mt. Pleasant.

NOTE: A feature story on the Mt. Pleasant hockey program will be on MIPrepZone Thursday afternoon and in The Morning Sun print edition Friday.
