All Baseball StoriesDelta College head baseball coach Dan Smith is pleased to announce the recent signing of Austin Myers to a National Letter of Intent. Myers, a 2014 graduate of Vestaburg high school, will be used as a right-handed pitcher for the Pioneers in the 2015 season. “The Vestaburg baseball team had one of its greatest seasons in its history in 2014 and Austin was one of the catalysts for that success,” said Smith. “Our coaching staff was impressed with his ability to command the strike zone and the velocity of which he does it with.” Delta College is located in Bay County with an enrollment of 17,000 full and part-time students. It was founded in 1961 and added baseball as a varsity sport beginning with the 2012 season. Since that time, the Pioneers have compiled an 87-49 overall record and qualified for post-season play in both the 2013 and 2014 seasons. The 2013 squad finished one game shy of reaching the NJCAA World Series before finishing ranked #14 in the country while the 2014 team finished with a record of 33-13 and a #19 national ranking. Myers will join other local signees Ryan Cline of Shepherd and Clare’s Colton Punches as a member of the 2015 DC roster. Cline is a middle infielder while Punches is a right-handed pitcher.
