Ithaca girls land runner-up in D3 home regional, earn MITCA bid

The Ithaca High School girls track and field team finished runner-up at Friday’s Division 3 regional at home as it crossed the tape with 86 points.

Pewamo-Westphalia won the title with 185 points while Carson City was 11th in the 17-team meet with 20.

With the showing the Lady Jackets earn a bid into next weekend’s MITCA meet.

Erica Sheahan won the long jump (16-5.5) to pace the Jackets.

Other top-six finishers were: 200 DASH: 2. Sheahan (IT) 26.84, 3. Brianne Draper (IT) 27.34; 800 RUN: 3. Courtney Allen (IT) 2:27.52, 5. Blaire Showers (IT) 2:31.27; 1,600 RUN: 3. Blaire Showers (IT) 5:33.48; 3,200 RUN: 2. Kaitlyn Beyer (CCC) 11:42.43; 300 HURDLES: 2. Emily Foster (IT) 50.52; 400 RELAY: 2. Ithaca 52.65, 6. Carson City 56.37; 800 RELAY: 2. Ithaca 1:49.45, 5. Carson City 1:58.18; 1,600 RELAY: 4. Ithaca 4:23.77; 3,200 RELAY: 2. Ithaca 9:55.75, 6. Carson City 10:57.84; LONG JUMP: 5. Draper (IT) 15-10.25

On the boys side Laingsburg won the title with 92 while Lansing Catholic was second with 90.

Carson City was 13th with 17 points while Ithaca was 14th with 11.5.

Austin Hopkins of Carson City was fourth in the shot put (45-9.5) while Josh Coston was third in the discus (146-9) and Kolton Kavanagh was sixth in the high jump (5-9).

Ithaca’s Koby Lee was fifth in the pole vault (10-9) while Blake Reyes was third in the long jump (20-3.5)
