Coleman notches dual wins over Houghton Lake

The Coleman High School boys track team earned a victory over Houghton Lake at home Wednesday night.

Cody Wood picked up the win for the Comets in the 200 (24.5), while Austin Blake won the 400 (57.1). Alexia Snear ran to the win in the 1,600 (5:36). Levi Veltkamp won the 300 hurdles (46.9).

Cole Gross won both the shot put (37-5 ) and the discus (112-8), while Jarid Walton earned the win in the high jump (6-2). Curtis Bell was first in the pole vault (11-10) and Mitch Franklin won the long jump (18-11 ).

Coleman also posted victories in the 400 relay (47.6), the 1,600 relay (3:49.1) and the 3,200 relay (10:13).

The Comets also won on the girls side with Amanda MacDonald leading the way with wins in the 100 (13.1), the 400 (1:04.3) and the pole vault (9-3).

Jessica Lovejoy won the 800 for the Comets in a time of 3:05.1, while Sara Thoreby ran to the win in the 1,600 (6:16.5) and the 3,200 (13:52.3). Airen Anderson placed first in the high jump (4-8 ).

Coleman also won the 400 relay (1:02.3).
