Mt. Pleasant tops Cadillac, while Alma wins on a buzzer beater by Curtis Doyle

CADILLAC The Mt. Pleasant High School basketball team improved to 15-4 this season Tuesday with a 64-54 victory at Cadillac.

The Oilers jumped out to an 18-7 lead through one quarter and continued to lead 32-18 at halftime in a game they controlled for the duration.

Anton Cotton led the way for Mt. Pleasant with 25 points and three assists, while Jaleel Hogan added 20 points and 14 points. Aaron Leasher contributed five points, five assists, and nine rebounds.

Jalen Brooks paced Cadillac with 28 points.

Alma 61, Ovid-Elsie 60

Curtis Doyle sank the buzzer-beater for the Alma Panthers that propelled them to a 61-60 win over Ovid-Elsie on Tuesday.

Doyle finished the night with six points and his second game-winning shot of the season. Dylan Carl had 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Panthers (11-7). Justin Doyle and Than Wood each scored 10, and Ryan Cornejo and Darren Olejnczak each scored eight points.

Fulton 65, Portland St. Pats 33

PORTLAND - The Fulton Pirates beat Portland St. Patrick in a CMAC boys basketball tilt 65-33 on Tuesday to finish their regular season.

Fulton (17-2, 12-2) jumped out to a ten-point lead after one quarter en route to victory. Colton Andes had 15 points to lead the Pirates (17-2, 12-2), Dalton Trefil had nine points and five assists.

Shepherd 54, Bullock Creek 45

MIDLAND - The Shepherd Bluejays boys basketball team downed Bullock Creek 54-45 in A TVC-Central matchup Tuesday.

After being down one point 20-19 at halftime the Blujays (6-12, rallied and built what proved to be an insurmountable nine-point margin. Toren Sanchez paced the Bluejays with 21 points, Lucas Doyle scored 15. Mason Branigan chipped in with eight points.

Chippewa Hills 64, Central Montcalm 54

After leading by only two points at half, Chippewa Hills eventually beat Central Montcalm 64-54 on Tuesday.

Hunter Conley led the way for Chippewa Hills (6-13) with 17 points. Nolan Denslow added in 11 in the winning effort.

Chippewa Hills next plays Thursday at Newaygo.

Beal City 72, Lake City 45

LAKE CITY Beal City defeated Lake City in a boys basketball contest 72-45 on Tuesday in Lake City.

Ryan Tilmann led the way for the Aggies (13-6) with a double-double earning 22 points, 11 rebounds and two assists. Ty Rollin contributed 13 points, three assists and one steal. Luke Farrell scored 11, while Tucker Gross and Kurt Gross each scored eight.

Saginaw Valley Lutheran 53, St. Louis 41

The St. Louis Sharks boys basketball squad was outscored 53-41 in a TVC-West contest against Saginaw Valley Lutheran on Tuesday.

Nole Bailey was the lead scorer on the night with 12 points for the Sharks (4-13, 2-10). Zach Mizer scored eight.

New Lothrop 39, Carson City-Crystal 36

NEW LOTHROP - The Carson City Eagles lost to New Lothrop on the road 39-36 on Tuesday.

Down three points, the Eagles (11-6) were unable to score in two possessions before time ran out. Rhett Pringle scored 13 to lead the Eagles, Grant Gage had five assists on the night.

Freeland 73, Clare 69

FREELAND The Clare High School boys basketball team lost a close one at Freeland Tuesday night by a score of 73-69.

The Pioneers (13-5) led 58-51 going to the fourth quarter, but were outscored 13-5 over the last eight minutes.

Colton Punches led Clare with 15 points and six rebounds, while Mason Packard had 13 points and eight boards. Scott Smith contributed 12 points. Max Swan added 11 points and six rebounds.

Morrice 83, Ashley 48

The Ashley High School boys basketball team fell 83-48 at home Tuesday versus Morrice.

Ashley trailed 22-13 after one quarter and 43-24 at halftime and the hosts were unable to climb back in it.

Domingo Gutierrez led the Bears with 11 points, six rebounds, and five blocked shots. Cole Welch scored 10 points.

Vestaburg 50, Farwell 40

The Vestaburg High School boys basketball team earned a 50-40 win over visiting Farwell on Tuesday.

The Wolverines (9-7) led 10-7 after the first quarter but trailed 24-19 at halftime. Vestaburg led 35-34 after three quarters and used a 15-6 fourth quarter to pull away.

DeWayne McKinney led Vestaburg with 17 points and 20 rebounds, while Keegan Scott tallied 10 points and four boards.

Sanford-Meridian 52, Ithaca 38

The Ithaca High School boys basketball team dropped a 52-38 non-conference decision to visiting Sanford-Meridian on Tuesday.

The Yellowjackets trailed 15-11 after the first quarter and 23-16 at halftime.

Logan Hessbrook paced Ithaca with 12 points, while Jake Smith and Levi Lehman each tallied six points apiece.
