PREP WRESTLING: Montabella takes first in home invite

The Montabella High School wrestling team won its home invitational Saturday as it registered 214 points. St. Louis was second as it scored 201.

Leading the Mustangs on the day by winning their division were Dustin Scott (125), Dalton Kuklewski (130), Joey Durham (160), Johnny Durham, and Dan Davidson (HWT).

Johnny Durham recorded his 150th career win in the meet, while Kuklewski and Davidson each won their 100th career prep match.

Nate Miller (140), Mike Hyde (145), Zach Taubitz (152), and LD Lapham (215) all finished in second place for Montabella.

The Sharks were led by Jed Abbott (145), Joe Eager (160), and Clayton Howd (189) as all three took first place. Adam Zimmerman (112), Martin Lopez (119), and Connor Holton (125) all finished second.

Cameron Rios (130), Logan Seeley (135), Jordan Crook (140), Zach Ross (152), and Jackson Miller (171) all took third for St. Louis. Holden LaCross (103) placed fourth.

Shepherd placed sixth out of 11 teams on the day.

Going 3-2 for the Bluejays were Noah Crispin (119), Grant Hegenauer (125), Skylar Neyome (160), Tim Kirby (189), Tristian Foster (189), and Joe Schutt (215).



Carson City-Crystal goes 5-0 at Central Montcalm

STANTON - The Carson City-Crystal High School wrestling team cruised to five straight wins Saturday to take the title at the Central Montcalm Team Tournament.

The Eagles topped New Lothrop 64-12, Greenville's 'B' team 75-6, Breckenridge 84-0, Mt. Pleasant 62-12, and Central Montcalm 58-21 en route to the title.

Going 5-0 on the day for Carson City were Ryan Argensinger (103), Taylor Barkley (112), Alex Baker (119), Dallas O'Green (125), Dillen Decker (152), Darren Decker (160), Austin Hopkins (215), and Brad Osterman (HWT).

Shane Wiggins (135) and Garner Cusack (140) each went 4-0.

Mt. Pleasant went 4-1 on the day as it topped Greenville 'B' 76-6, Central Montcalm 49-24, New Lothrop 48-30, and Breckenridge 78-4 while falling to Carson City-Crystal.

Ryan Mack (103), Trevor Williams (112), Storme Hernandez (119), Josh Schafer (125), Gil Franco (160), and Ian Marsh all went 4-1 for the Oilers.

Mt. Pleasant's Kegan Krapek (130), Zach McBride (140), Matt Yeagley (152), and Isaac Parks (171) were all 3-2. Khayman Vonreichbauer (145) finished at 1-0.
