PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Chippewa Hills girls land runner-up at home invite

The Chippewa Hills High School girls cross country team finished second at its own invite Saturday as it crossed the tape with 68 points on the day.

Ionia won the 11-team meet with 39 points while Clare was seventh with 185 and Harrison was 11th with 295.

Senior Megan OíNeil won the meet for the hosts in 19:11.3.

Emily Starck (20:50.1) was sixth with Kylie Schafer (21:14.5) 10th, Blake Kuzma (23:02.2) 28th and Joelle Humpula (23:07.0) 29th.

Lindsey Winter (22:21.9) led Clare in 18th with Jordyn Bradley (23:14.2) 30th, Sarah Gray (24:05.2) 52nd, Makenzie Harmon (24:19.1) 55th and Amanda Yats (24:27.0) 58th.

Raylene Ramirez (23:42.1) led Harrison in 40th with Stephanie Prince (25:10.4) 69th, Brandi Miller (27:51.0) 106th, Christine Mason (30:34.1) 124th and Andrea Feliz Calvo (30:51.2) 125th.

Vestaburg also competed but didnít post a team score.

Johannah McCarty (22:20.7) was 17th for the Wolverines while Andreya McCarty (22:42.2) was 21st, Essie McCarty (26:49.8) 95th, Rebecca Gondek (26:54.5) 96th and Cammi Clouse (27:56.4) 107th.

On the boys side Fremont won it with 55 with Ionia second with 59.

Chippewa Hills was sixth with 173 while Harrison was 10th with 235.

Brandon Wolliston (18:13.5) paced the Warriors in 18th with Nick Mathis (19:01.4) 34th, David Painter (19:22.8) 44th, Sultan Nadirov (19:42.0) 52nd and Logan St. John (19:44.4) 53rd.

Dalton MacDormott (18:31.0) led Harrison in 28th with Reed Romanowski (19:21.7) 43rd, Lukas Oesterreich (19:49.3) 56th, Daniel Yoder (21:44.1) 84th and Alan Poole (22:16.8) 92nd.

Vestaburg and Clare also competed yet didnít post team scores.

Tyler Gondek (20:08.9) led the Wolverines in 63rd while Kirklyn Edwards (22:15.9) was 91st.

Nate Wertheimer (20:18.4) was 71st for Clare.
